- Introductory Remarks
- Welcome from Moriah Bryant, current President of ICP
- Introduction / Overview of the current board
- ICP:
- Facilitate the support of the school, organize community events, fundraising, fulfill needs in the classroom
- ICP can’t answer specific questions on curriculum, school location, teachers, etc – but we can help point you in the right direction
- Reminder that we have a monthly board meeting that is open to the public for those who are interested
- Financial Update
- ICP sends out emails twice a week
- Fiscal year runs from August 1 – July 31
- Link to annual report has been sent to all ICP members through email
- Fund Areas:
- 50% of the funds raised last year were received through the Annual Fund; 25% of funds raised through the Technology Raffle
- Primary fundraising is through an annual fund (donations to ICP) – we have been committed to staying away from fundraising items that require students to sell items
- Ask each family to make a donation in whatever amount they feel is appropriate
- Eliminates needs for multiple fundraising, as well as asking students to sell items
- This year the Annual Fund will kick off on August 22 - 26
- Expenses – areas of support
- Largest focus was in technology – projectors, Chromebook labs, etc.
- Collegiate Leader requests
- Playground equipment
- Collegiate Leader Professional Development
- Reminders:
- Use Smile.Amazon.com when you make any Amazon purchases and a portion comes back to ICP
- In Kind donations – families are fulfilling many needs around ICI. If something is purchased for your children’s classroom, bookcases for schools, etc – complete the In Kind form that can be found in the ICP email
- Since August 1, families have provided more than $4500 in supplies
- Annual Fund – 2016 – 2016
- Bridge the Gap theme
- Send cash, check, or make payment online with a credit card
- Consider passing the information on to family members
- State funding only provides a certain amount and it is up to our community to bridge the gap
- Goal is $20K for the annual fall fund drive
- Starts on August 22 – 26
- Volunteer Coordinator
- Melissa Strong is serving as the ICI on staff volunteer coordinator
- Background checks have been improved and are cheaper - $13.95 per person
- Level volunteers – any volunteer who will be around students must be a Level II volunteer and a background check is required
- New for this year is a volunteer background process for family members (grandparents, etc)
- Volunteer training is required for all volunteers, even if we have participated in past trainings
- Expectations in the building
- Schedules to volunteer
- Three dates have been shared
- Tuesday, August 16
- Thursday, August 17
- Tuesday, August 23
- Critical to sign up before hand as some of the trainings are close to being full
- Expected to last about 30 minutes
- Goal is to get volunteers in after Labor Day
- ICP Events
- Food drive is going on this week.
- Launch – three nights have been established for different nights per age groups
- See information from the ICP newsletter to sign up online
- 25% of the funds are given back to ICP
- Community Building/Meet other families: goal is to have them the second Friday of the month
- Friday, September 9 will be the first one at Highland Brewery
- Movie Night:
- Outdoor movie night – scheduled for September 16
- We are looking for someone who would like to lead that committee, need a few volunteers to make sure everything goes well. If you are interested, let us know.
- Goal will be to do another movie night in January
- Important to maintain occupancy numbers and to ensure all people accounted for
- INVEST COLLEGIATE Consortium
- Meet every month; every other month they focus on ICI Imagine (Asheville campus)
- The meetings that are held here on alternate months are focused on Imagine. They discuss curriculum decisions, direction, etc.
- Minutes are shared on the website and are published.
- Needs
- ICP will be supporting the needs that are identified by the Collegiate Leaders; form was established to gather specific needs from the teachers so that they don’t have to send so many direct requests to parents
- ICP will be funding a variety of functions/areas – technology, art, music, etc.
- Currently have $19K in assets - $11K associated to recent technology raffle
- Corporate Sponsors
- Looking for any volunteers to help us secure corporate sponsors; please let ICP board know if you would be willing to support this fundraising initiative.
- Questions from ICI community in attendace:
- Will the coding club continue?
- Yes, Andrew Beatty said the club will continue.
- In addition, the Adventure Club will be starting up, as well as Lego club
- If you have children who are interested in other things and would like to lead the development of a club, please let us know.
- What was our goal for last year for the annual fund and did we meet it?
- We didn’t have a specific goal last year. We raised $13K in the first year of Imagine, $24K last year.
ICP Mission:
The mission of INVEST Community Partners is to provide positive support and advocate for INVEST COLLEGIATE Imagine, its Champions, and Collegiate Leaders to ensure academic success and personal growth in all Champions.
