Land Conservation and Agriculture Committee Members present: Tom Reid, Jerrold Schmidt, Hoyt Strandberg, Rick Olson, Larry Blaken, Ron Carney
Others present: DeWayne Snobl, Mike Goehring, Ryan Swatek, Ray Ransom, Gaylord Olson II
LCAC Chair Ron Carney called the meeting to order at 8:00 am.
Olson, Strandberg motion to approve the May 19, 2016 Land Conservation and Agriculture Committee meeting minutes. Motion carried.
The next LCAC meeting will be on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
Wildlife Damage Claims and Abatement Program – DeWayne Snobl – see report.
Olson, Blaken motion to approve the Flying Dollar Cranberry, Inc. fencing abatement project for elk damage prevention. Motion carried.
Strandberg, Olson motion to approve the Jackson County WCACP Budget amendment for $70,000.00 for elk damage fence protection. Motion carried.
Natural Resources Conservation Service – Ryan Swatek
The Local Work Group meeting will be held in Independence, WI for Buffalo, Trempealeau and Jackson County in July. There are six new Conservation Stewardship Program contract applications in Jackson County. The recent Cover Crop application period closed with five or six applications received. There are 12 Conservation Stewardship Program contracts eligible for renewal. There were no applications accepted in Jackson County for the general sign-up Conservation Reserve Program. Some project construction has occurred despite the wet soil conditions.
Land Conservation Department – Gaylord Olson II
Strandberg, Blaken motion to approve the Pautauwak Farms, Inc. County Conservation Cost-Share Program cost-share agreement payment. Motion carried.
Blaken, Olson motion to approve the Land and Water Resource Management Plan Program cost-share agreements for Kling and Anderson. Motion carried.
Blaken, Olson motion to approve the Notice of Discharge Program cost-share agreement for Anderson’s. Motion carried.
Olson, Reid motion to approve the bills. Motion carried.
Blaken, Reid motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
