2012 Annual Scholarship Programwinners Announced

2012 ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMWINNERS ANNOUNCED

The CBAI Foundation for Community Banking has selected its 2012 Annual Scholarship Program winners.Now in its 26th year, the program awards up to $16,000 to high school seniors via an essaywriting contest; $500 is also awarded to the firstplace winner's high school. This year, 82 CBAI member banks representing 171 students, participated in the contest.

The first-place scholarship of $1,000 each year for up to four years of higher education was awarded to Kayleigh Berger, sponsored by Citizens National Bank of Albion. Her high school, Edwards County High School, Albion, received a $500 award. Judges, who had the ability to award an additional $1,000 to one student per CBAI group (there are 13 groups, encompassing every part of the state), bestowed the following $1,000 gifts: Keith Giagnorio (sponsored by The Peoples’ Bank of Arlington Heights); Rachel Wood (sponsored by CenTrust Bank, Northbrook); Matthew Webber (sponsored by State Bank of Herscher); Riley Jackson (sponsored by Peoples National Bank of Kewanee); Sara Layne (sponsored by Rushville State Bank); Bradley Zehr (sponsored by Goodfield State Bank); Courtney Considine (sponsored by The First National Bank, Mattoon); Marlana Jackson (sponsored by Prairie State Bank and Trust, Mt. Zion, Springfield branch); and James Gorman III (sponsored by Jersey State Bank, Jerseyville).

Additionally, nonmonetary Honorable Mentions went to BrigidGreska (sponsored by Park Federal Savings Bank, Chicago); Jack Moran (sponsored by The Peoples’ Bank of Arlington Heights); Gretchen Higgins (sponsored by Raritan State Bank); Cameron Heiser (sponsored by The Fisher National Bank); Emily Bolen (sponsored by The First National Bank, Mattoon); Lauren Turner (sponsored by Wemple State Bank, Waverly); Kristine Bodine (sponsored by Buena Vista National Bank, Chester); Nicole Ripperda (sponsored by Germantown Trust & Savings Bank, Breese); Donnie Francesion (sponsored by State Bank of Waterloo); and Janie Tepen (sponsored by Jersey State Bank, Jerseyville.
