AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO APPLAUD THE DORMAN HIGH SCHOOLBOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR SECURING THE 2018 SOUTH CAROLINACLASS AAAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM’S PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.

Whereas, after a grueling game, the Dorman Cavaliers managed to bring home their second straight AAAAA state championship title, defeating Irmo High School 4433; and

Whereas, Dorman grabbed an early leadwith a longdistance threepointer sunk by Myles Tate. This was followed by a dunk from Gabe Bryant and a turnaround jumper from P.J. Hall. The Cavaliers led 96 after a quarter, but then Irmo began to take control; and

Whereas, scoring thirteen points in the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets took the lead at 1915 at halftime; and

Whereas, the Cavaliers responded with an 111 run to end the third quarter, building a 3527 lead. P.J. Hall, Myles Tate, and Ethan Parton all made threepointers in the run. Kam’ron Smith ignited the rally with his gritty play, diving for loose balls and securing a pair of extra possessions for the Cavaliers; and

Whereas, defense was key in this game. Dorman managed to hold the Yellow Jackets to just eight points in the third quarter and six in the fourth; and

Whereas, utilizing his own skill and knowledge, Coach Thomas Ryan forged his players into a championshipcaliber team. The tireless lessons he has instilled in his players will remain with them on and off the court; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great pride in recognizing the young men of the Dorman High School boys basketball team for their stellar performance and look forward to hearing of their continued achievements in years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, applaud the Dorman High Schoolboys basketball team for securing the 2018South Carolina Class AAAAAState Championship title and congratulate the team’s players, coaches, and staff.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Ken Kiser and Coach Thomas Ryan of Dorman High School.
