  • Friday, January 18, presented, annual Burns Night dinner, featuring Scottish Tenor, Graeme Lauren, and Soprano, Catherine Croall, both graduates of RSAMD, accompanied by John Musto, award winning pianist and composer. Abby Newton, a celebrated exponent of Scottish folk music with a number of recordings to her credit, played throughout the evening.
  • Tuesday, January 22, supported the NYC launch of the book “How the Scots Invented the Modern World”, by Arthur Herman.
  • Wednesday, January 30, hosted His Grace The Duke of Roxeburgh at a private reception to promote the Roxeburgh Hotel & Golf Course.
  • Tuesday, March 12, supported, “The Brave Man” documentary on the life of Revolutionary General William Alexander.
  • Saturday, March 23, 2002, sponsored the Foundation’s semi-annual Scottish Ball at the New York Genealogical Society.
  • Wednesday, April 3, sponsored Opening of Dewars “Scots on Film”, a Scottish Film Festival.
  • Friday, April 5, co-arranged tree planting ceremony in Central Park in which First Minister Jack McConnell presented a Red Oak to Central Park on behalf of the People of Scotland.
  • Friday, April 5, sponsored “Europe’s Youngest Parliament: An insight into devolution and innovation of the Scottish Parliament.” A lecture by The Rt. Hon. Sir David Steel KBE MSP, former Chairman of the Liberal Party and Presiding Officer, Scottish Parliament. At the Center for European Studies of New York University.
  • April 6-May 4, supported “Kilt”, a new play by Jonathan Wilson produced by The Directors Company at The Director Company Theatre 3, 311 West 43rd Street.
  • Monday, April 8, presented “Scotland in the Global Economy” Business Forum with Keynote by Scottish Minister for Enterprise, Wendy Alexander. Sponsored by D. Euan Baird, Scottish Development International, PEPCO, and the Financial Times. A 2002 Tartan Day event in Washington, DC.
  • Monday, April 8, presented “an Evening with The Three Scots Tenors.” Sponsored by D. Euan Baird and Ben Nevis Scotch, The Hallmark of St. James Whisky at the National Geographic Society Arts Center. A 2002 Tartan Day event in Washington, DC.
  • Wednesday, April 10, presented the D. Euan Baird Scottish American Academic Forum on Scotland’s contribution to the growth and development of the US. Featuring panelists from the Universities of Glasgow, Strathclyde, Stirling, and Montgomery College, Maryland at The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. A 2002 Tartan Day event in Washington, DC.
  • Wednesday, April 10, presented songs inspired by the Scottish Diaspora. A musical presentation on Scottish Emigration by Hugh Cheape, curator of the National Museums of Scotland. Accompanied by violinist Paul Jordan of the National Fiddle Orchestra. A 2002 Tartan Day event in Washington, DC.
  • Friday, April 19, sponsored inaugural British American Business, Inc., “Winston Churchill” lecture, Gordon Brown, M.P., Chancellor of the Exchequer, Speaker.
  • Friday, June 7, sponsored the 6th Annual John Muir Golf Tournament in association with The City of New York /Parks & Recreation, Friends of Van Cortlandt Park and American Golf.
  • Thursday, July 18, convened and hosted exploratory meeting to establish New York City National Tartan Day Committee.
  • Thursday, August 15, convened and hosted first National Tartan Day 2003 Steering Committee meeting.
  • September 9-12, sponsored, in cooperation with New York City/Parks & Recreation, return visit to New York City, of Pipes & Drums 1st Battalion Scots Guards featuring and St. Thomas Church performances at Historic Battery Park, Central Park and St. Thomas Church (September 9); Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum and Seaford Fire Department, Seaford, New York (September 11) and Madison Square Park (September 12). Reception hosted at St. Andrews Restaurant (September 9); and Farewell luncheon at Magaritta Restaurant (September 12).
  • Tuesday, October 15, arranged for members of New York City Fire Department to be available at a Brooklyn High School for a videoconference with officers and members of The Fire Department of The Kingdom of Fife.
  • Wednesday, October 16, promoted and attended “Education In Britain Day” at the Bronx High School of Science. An event to encourage students to study in UK for college or other degrees.
  • Friday, November 1, organized and hosted a reception for Peter Cox, Editor, Daily Record and Bob Bird, Scottish Editor, News of The World who ran in the New York City Marathon to benefit “Save our Kids.” Raised $600.
  • December 10, co-hosted with N.Y. Public Library, the celebration of The Centenary of Andrew Carnegie’s $5,200,000 gift to N.Y. Public Library to found Yorkville Public Library, the first of 65 Branch Libraries funded by Andrew Carnegie within the New York City systems.
