Scope

The RHN is a leading national centre of excellence, providing adult person-centred services that span the entire care pathway from post-acute rehabilitation services to end of life care, for people with complex Neuro-disability and their families, underpinned by a strong research and education programme.

The Fundraising Department is a small and friendly team, responsible for raising £3.1million each year to fund a variety of vital therapies and services for the patients and residents. Furthermore, through a variety of income streams, the team helps to fund capital projects, such as ward refurbishmentsand new facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work together with the Fundraising Manager to organise the full calendar of fundraising events to raise £300,000 towards the overall team annual target of £3.1million.
  1. Recruit participants for a range of sporting and challenge events, including (but not limited to) the Virgin Money London Marathon, Vitality and British 10k, Royal Parks Half Marathon, Brighton Marathon, Prudential Ride100, Survival of the Fittest, Rough Runner, Skydives, London to Brighton Challenge and Thames Tow Path Challenge. Overseeing the project management, logistics, marketing and stewardship of each.
  1. Provide a first-class standard of supporter care and stewardship by developing a supporter journey for event participants to maximise fundraising and event experience. Cross sell appropriate products to event participants.
  1. Manage the delivery of annual community fundraising events, including (but not limited to) the Christmas Fair, Bridge events and Give it Up for the RHN.
  1. Develop detailed project plans and project management of each event including marketing, on the day logistics and the supporter journey.
  2. Support volunteers organising their own events in addition to third party fundraising events.
  1. Build relationships and work with current community partners whilst developing new ones. Attend events where necessary; encouraging/ supporting school fundraising, churches, rotaries and other associations. Explore further community fundraising initiatives, such as through local groups, relatives of patients, and local companies.
  2. Assist the Fundraising Manager with Special Events, including (but not limited to) the Christmas Carol Concert, Gala Dinner, ‘Row Hard’ and the annual ‘Thank You Evening’.
  3. Monitor and update budgets throughout the year.
  1. Work closely with the Communications Team in regards to devising integrated marketingand digital plans for all events and community-related matters. Update the RHN charity event pages with marketing copy.
  1. Using specialist computer programs such as InDesign, and working alongside the Communications Team, create and produce a range of publicity materials such as posters, flyers, booking forms, invitation cards, brochures, certificates and tickets (training can be provided).
  1. Demonstrate an awareness of RHN’s objectives and contribute to achieving them appropriately.
  1. The role will involve some evening and weekend work for which time in lieu may be taken. Some flexibility with hours and travel is required.

  1. Proven experience of organising high profile events in the charity sector (E)

  7. Computer literate, using MS Office Windows, Raisers Edge, databases, design software (E)
  8. Confident in talking to groups and attending events, speaking about the charity (E)
  9. Educated to degree level (D)
  10. Comfortable in an environment interacting with profoundly disabled patients (E)
