ANNUAL EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST

Each Worksmart / Public Access Computer station must have the following equipmentEquipment overview

KEYBOARDS
Are the keyboards tiltable (do there have flip down feet) / / Check flip down feet beneath keyboard.
If broken / missing, report to IT Help Desk
Is there enough space to rest hands in front of keyboard? /
Do the keyboards have a non-reflective surface? / Keyboard should have a non-reflective (e.g. matt black) surface.
If No, report to IT Services Help Desk
Are the characters on the keyboards readable? / If No, report to IT Services Help Desk
Are any of the keys missing / sticking / broken? / If Yes, report to IT Services Help Desk
SCREENS
Do the screens swivel and tilt? / Check swivel and tilt functions.
If broken / unable to adjust, report to IT Services Help Desk
Can the monitor height be set so that the top (or top third) of the viewing area is roughly level with your eyes. / Check height adjustment.
If broken / unable to adjust, report to IT Services Help Desk
WORK SURFACES
Is adequate space available to find a comfortable work position / Desk surfaces should be in good order and free from stored items / litter / rubbish, if not report to the RP
Is the desk surface free from glare and reflection? / Desk surface should be matt / non-reflective. If not, Worksmart users may request provision of desktop matt (piece of dark matt coloured card may be used in the short term)
Is an adjustable document holder available? / There should be at least one document holder available per three Worksmart desks.
If No, report to IT Services Help Desk
MOUSE
Can the mouse be positioned close to the user? / The cable from the mouse to the computer should be long enough to allow the user to move the mouse freely on the desk
CHAIRS
Is the chair stable?
All chairs must be checked / If there is excessive movement / rocking between seat and castor base, remove the chair for repair, replace and report to RP
Can the user adjust the chair height so that their elbows are horizontal with the desk?
Does the chair have the following features?
1. Seat pad can be adjusted in height?
2. Seat back adjusts in height?
3. Seat back adjusts in tilt?
4. Five castor base? / / 1. Check seat height adjustment e.g. slow to respond up/down, sticks in one position or does not maintain a fixed position (seat sinks slowly)

If any faults are found, remove the chair for repair, replace and report to RP

USER COMFORT
Can the user use the keyboard without overstretching? / /
The cable from the keyboard to the computer should be long enough to allow the user to move / position the keyboard freely on the desk
PORTABLE COMPUTER (LAPTOPS)Are laptop stands available / / There should be designated Worksmart stations for laptop users
Is there a separate keyboard and mouse / / A separate keyboard and mouse must be available for laptop users. If missing, report to IT Services Help Desk
