President’s Christmas Wrap up!

It takes many wonderful people to help keep our club running smoothly and I would like to thank you all. Whether you have been involved with technical duties, time keeping, team manager, running club nights, catering, raffles, newsletter.... I thank you all. I would also like to thank the members of the general and Executive committee who have constantly worked hard behind the scenes.

On behalf of the club, I would also like to thank our fantastic coaches, James, Mitch and Joel for their dedication and hard work with training our talented swimmers and helping them achieve their goals.

This year, the Club has continued to see many incredible achievements. We have swimmers compete at their very first meet, swimmers compete in new events for the very first time, swimmers compete and excel at various meets, numerous PBs achieved, and Country, State & National Championships qualifying times achieved. All our swimmers should be very proud of efforts. Congratulations!

Finally, Merry Christmas to you all and please stay safe over the holiday period. I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year and celebrate what I’m sure will be another fantasticyear, full of excitement and achievements.

Go Wests!

Yours in swimming,

James Davies

WIAQ President

New members

We welcome the following new members to the Club this season: Will Fowler, Kate Fowler, Julian Linden, Harry Linden, Taj Tegart, Lily Tegart, Lucie Robson, Denzel Amone, Linda Amone, Jasmin Petty, David Petty, Kaitlyn Formosa, Nicole Formosa, Samuel Ayoub, Benjamin Ayoub, Olivia Ayoub, Elizabeth Ayoub, Savannah Dzajkoski, Isabelle Petrovic and Keira Montgomery.

Friday Night Swim Club/Club Championships

This week is the second week of Club Championships.

At this stage the last pointscore before the Christmas break will be a fun night with Freestyle events, Relays and some novelty races. As it will be the last night before Christmas we will also have a Christmas dress up night, so put on your Christmas gear and get along. Ayesha Jaimon has worked hard to prepare some special Christmas treats for pointscore that night!

We need a special volunteer to be our ‘special visitor’ on the last night, someone that can get into the Christmas spirit, and is looking to have some fun with the kids.

Remember that the cost per child is $3 to maximum of $7 per family, this entitles each competitor to swim a maximum of 2 events.

Friday Night Swim Club is open to ALL members, a get opportunity to catch up with friends.

Enjoy a Sausage Sizzle poolside $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. By purchasing a Sausage Sizzle you’re supporting our swimmers in attending events and future swim camps.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with the BBQ duties, if you would like to help out please contact, James Davies WIAQ President and he can arrange the food for you. All you would have to do is cook!

If you have any questions please contact Richard Smith via email or 0407 694 465.

Quote of the week

Swimmers do more kicks than a soccer player, more flips than a gymnast, more sets than a volleyball player and more yards than a football player…..still easy????
