Assignment: Create a book of your own haiku poetry!

Using what you have learned about the traditional Japanese art form of haiku, create an illustrated poetry book containing at least six haiku poems. You should have one poem about each of the seasons (in accordance with traditional haikus), and two other haikus on the topic(s) of your choice. The cover of your book should have a title, your name, class period, and be creatively and colorfully decorated. Your poems may either be hand-written or typed, as long as they are very legible and neat. Your illustrations should be in color but may be hand-drawn or cut and pasted from some other source. Most importantly, be creative, expressive, and have fun! Refer to the FCAs below and grading rubric on the back of this page for more information.
