The 2010 Camano Rendezvous will be held at the Tidewater Yacht Marina in Portsmouth, Va. on May 21-23, 2010.

In a break from recent rondys, the 2010 rendezvous will be held during a weekend and in a metropolitan area easily accessible to air and road travel, as well as to boats since the marina is on the Intracoastal Waterway. Tidewater is located in the Olde Towne district of Portsmouth across the ElizabethRiver from Norfolk.

The Rendezvous Committee headed by Jean Thomason is planning a program that will include information-filled sessions mixed with opportunities to visit members’ boats and time to tour some of the many sights in the Hampton Roads area.

“Your rendezvous committee is excited about the plans that have been made and especially for the opportunity to see ole friends and meet new ones,” said hoapitality chair Eleanor Semerjian in a letter sent in September to all members of the East Coast Camano Owners.

“We will start our weekend off with a potluck dinner on Friday night and follow-up with a bar-b-q on Saturday night and our closing, more formal (and very yummy) Sunday dinner, both onsite at the Deck Restaurant. You can view the marina web site at and see their full display of amenities and services and their wonderful location for sightseeing and easy access off the ICW.”

Semerjian said the committee planning the program will incorporate the results of a recent survey sent to ECCO members. It showed ECCO members wanted programs on boat maintenance and handling (to include hands-on experience) as well as cruising information and information on local historical sites.

“You all mentioned the importance of our Camano camaraderie and that will be easy to foster with time to visit and socialize, and entertainment by our first ever Camano musical troop,” Semerjian said. She said a complete rundown of all the speakers and programs as well as costs will be included in an e-mail letter in January.

Tidewater has agreed to a 10% discount for Camano boaters bringing the dockage fee to $1.67 per foot, and has requested that slip reservations be made at least a month in advance. The marina has floating docks with competitively priced fuel available to boats in their slip. Tidewater can be reached by phone at 757-393-2525 or toll free at 888-390-0080.
