We hope that this year will be both a productive and rewarding journey of discovery during which you develop the skills to be successful and pursue your academic goals. This summer, we encourage you to consider your goals for the course as you read, annotate, and complete your summer assignment.

For this summer assignment, we have modified a Regents task. You are expected to highlight and annotate each article. The packet provides you with an opportunity to use the boxes as graphic organizers. This assignment is due on the first day of school.

The assignment is expected to be fully completed. Each annotation of each article will count toward the total points of the assignment, as will each worksheet. In order to receive full credit for the assignment, you are expected to annotate all six articles and complete both worksheets.

11R Summer Reading 2017 - 2018

Directions: Closely read each of the six texts provided and complete the attached worksheets.

Topic: Do you find that today's athletes are overpaid?

Your Task: Carefully read each of the six texts provided. You are expected to highlight and annotate each of the six texts. Then, using evidence from all six texts, fill out the attached worksheets (you must complete both the pro and the con worksheet). You are to pull textual evidence from all of the texts and cite this correctly in the worksheet. Next, you will show how the textual evidence you have selected proves the pro side of the argument or the con side of the argument.
