WEEKLY MARKET WRAP-UPS

DSE equity market reached a major milestone when Yetu Microfinance PLC(YETU) becomes the fifth company to be listed on its Enterprise Growth Market Segment (EGM). YETU also becomes the sixteenth Tanzanian company and the twenty third company overall to be listed at the Exchange.

The bourse continues to impress as this week total turnover concluded at TZS 7.27 billion, compared TZS 2.95 billion recorded the preceding week.

Tanzania Breweries Ltd (TBL), NMB and CRDB Bank PLCemerged as this week’s top traded equities. TBL controlled the market share by 79.54 percent, while NMB and CRDB contributed 7.67 percent and 6.17 percent, respectively.

SWISSPORT and Yetu Microfinance Bank PLC (YETU) emerged as the top gainer within local listed companies. SWISS stock price appreciated by TZS400 or 5.80 percent, closing this week at TZS 7,300per share. YETU stock price appreciated by TZS 100 or 20 percent, closing this week at TZS 600.

Tanzania Breweries Ltd (TBL) and Tanzania Cigarette Company (TCC)emerged as this weeks the top losers within local listed companies. TBLstock price experienced a TZS 1,000 or6.67 percent depreciation, closing this week at TZS 14,000 per share. TCC stock price experienced a TZS 390 or 3.12 percent depreciation, closing this week at TZS 12,120 per share

Total market capitalization a decrease by 0.30 percent compared to last week, closing at TZS 21.07 billion. Domestic market capitalizationexperienced a decreaseby 2.55 percentclosing this week at TZS 8.44 billion.

Comparatively, key benchmark indices were in thered territory to close off this week. The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) capped at 3,959.11points, lower by 2.62 percent compared with 4,065.83 points posted last week. The All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 2,403.92 points, down by 0.28 percent compared with last weeks closing at 2,410.57 points.

Similarly, the three sector indicesclosed off this weekin both the green and redterritory. Industrial & Allied experienced a decrease, closing at 5,319.99 points up down3.09 percent compared to previous week closing at 5,489.76 points. Banks, Finance and Investment Index experienced a decrease by 2.23 percent to close at 2,550.70points compared to last weeks closing at 2,609.01 points. Commercial Services Sector experienced an increase by 3.87percent to close this week off at 3,932.32 points compared to last weeks closing at 3,785.82 points.

OUTLOOK

We expect market turnover in the coming week to be moderate and improved price change. It is good time for investors turning market volatility to their advantage.
