The Murray Arms

2018

Introduction

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding and thank you for considering The Murray Arms Hotel as the setting for your special day.

The Murray Arms was built around 1760 by James Murray of Broughton and Cally and enjoys a long and proud history. Originally a posting inn, the hotel boasts a superb position in the pretty conservation area of Gatehouse of Fleet. With the clock tower on our doorstep and beautiful private gardens to the rear, the hotel makes a wonderful and memorable setting for your wedding. Steeped in history, Robert Burns wrote the famous ‘Scots Wha Hae’ in The Murray Arms when travelling through Gatehouse over two centuries ago. This historic building and its surrounds provide a great backdrop for photographs you will cherish forever.

You can be sure of a warm Scottish welcome for you and your guests at The Murray Arms. Exchange your vows within the hotel and sip champagne with your guests in our private garden. Then sit down to a sumptuous meal with your family and friends and make the most of the evening light as you overlook the garden while you eat. With the original solid wood dance floor now fully restored, The Garden Room is the ideal place to celebrate with dancing into the night.

Whether you are planning an intimate wedding for a handful of guests or an elaborate celebration for one hundred, we have choice of rooms to suit your needs. You can be assured that we will do our utmost to ensure you have the day you always dreamed of.

Wedding Packages

Rather than restrict you to a choice of set menus, we have arranged our wedding menus in a way that means you can build the menu that best suits your tastes from a variety of starters, main courses and desserts. Please choose one from each course to create your tailor made menu. Once you have chosen your three courses (or four should you prefer) you will be able to calculate the exact cost per person. Please note your menu price doesn’t include the wedding meal, it gives you an entire package including:

Bay trees lit with fairy lights at the entrance

Red carpet at the front door for you and your guests

A glass of chilled sparkling wine for the bridal party on arrival

Exclusive use of your chosen function rooms (no additional room hire charge)

Personal wedding co-ordinator

Pre dinner canapés

Wedding menus for your dinner tables

Use of decorative cake stand and wedding knife dressed with ribbon

Linen table cloths and napkins

Linen chair covers with organza sashes to match your colour scheme

Complimentary double room for the bride and groom on wedding night

(for weddings with a minimum of 50 adult guests for dinner)

Get Married at the Murray Arms

Why not plan your entire day with us and avoid the need for you and your guests to travel between venues. You can choose to be married in the hotel, or weather permitting you could be married in the open air in the hotel gardens. Or why not consider a marquee on the lovely level lawns and enjoy the best of both worlds!

Should you decide to be married in the hotel there is an additional fee. This includes the use of your chosen room with two pedestal flower arrangements (and where applicable the fireplace dressed with foliage and flowers).

Please note that the registrar / minister’s fees remain the responsibility of the bride and groom.
