NOTE Wednesday rides will now start at 5pm

Sun 5th Feb / Blyth / 0900 / Heading south to get the 1030 ferry, riding a circular around South Tyneside, and returning via Gateshead and Newcastle centre. 40 miles.
Wed 8th Feb / Cobalt / 1700 / Up the route 10 to Seaton Burn, through dark tracks of Havannah Woods, Brunton Lane, Gosforth (cheeky half at Killingworth Arms) and back to Cobalt, around 20 miles.
Sat 11th Feb / WATBike Workshop, Ashington / 0900 till 1400 / Big winter bike sale – come and see our good range of fully refurbished recycled bikes and accessories at bargain prices.
Sun 12th Feb / Cobalt / 0900 / Tour de Tyne. An easy flat and mostly traffic free ride along the south bank of the Tyne, crossing over further upstream, returning for a cuppa at Newburn riverside, than back via Newcastle, about 35 miles.
Wed 15th Feb / Cobalt / 1700 / Urban Wednesday – good training ride to keep your fitness over the winter. We will decide on the night where to go based on the weather. Will be around 16-20 miles with a beer stop planned. Route to be decided.
Sun 19th Feb / Cobalt / 0900 / Sunday samosa ride via Brighton Grove, across the Tyne and a cuppa at the Staith’s café in Dunston, then back over the Tyne and Cobalt, a jolly ride out about 35 miles.
Wed 22nd Feb / Blyth / 1700 / Another steady evening ride from Blyth Beach, heading up through Newbiggin and Ashington, and back via the cheeky climb at Bothal and Bedlington. Swift half back at the Commissioners Quay.
Sun 26th Feb / Blyth / 0900 / Big bus Sunday. Transport up to Alnwick, then cycle back to Blyth via Shilbottle and some quiet back roads, across to the coast with lunch at the Drift café, and returning to Blyth. About 40 miles.
Wed 1st Mar / Cobalt / 0900 / A favourite ride to Newcastle City to cross the Tyne over the Five Bridges, stopping for a drink in Jesmond on way back.
Sun 5th Mar / Cobalt / 0900 / Riding out west through Ponteland to the lovely café at Capheaton, then returning via Bolam, Whalton and Stannington, around 50 miles out.

Meeting points:

  1. Blyth will be from the large car park by Coastline Chippy restaurant at South Beach.
  2. North Tyneside, Cobalt, will be Car Park opposite Village Hotel.
  1. No children under the age of 12
  2. Only “standard” bikes, no recumbent bikes, tandems or 3 wheelers on these rides. We may be able to do rides with these types of bike by request, just call us.
  3. Cost is £10 per head when bus is required, and only £5 if a circular ride-includes pick up from the designated point, transport by minibus from there or return, this includes a place on the trailer for your bike. Payment can be made on the day of the ride.
  4. A minimum of 8 riders are required to make each ride viable, if less than 8 we maintain the right to cancel and you will be offered a place on another ride.
  5. If you want any particular type/length of ride, or maybe wish to take in a certain event or location, then let us know and we can design something to suit you.
  6. These are leisure rides to be enjoyed; we want you to be able to appreciate some of the fabulous parts of the North East that you probably wouldn’t see from a car window. Fun, fresh air and gentle exercise! Each ride will have experienced guides to help you along, and in all cases there will be shortcuts should anyone find they are really struggling.
  7. We suggest bringing a water bottle, and some snacks to keep your energy levels up, and we always try and end where we can get drinks/snacks. Wearing of cycle helmets is advisory.
  8. All cyclists ride at their own risk, the Highway Code should be adhered to at all times. You are responsible for your own safety and should be aware at all times of other users of the roads and tracks.
