Vigil Site Tips

Please Do….

  • Sign and follow the 40 Days for Life “Statement of Peace” (found on the website).
  • Make every effort to stay focused on prayer while at the vigil and to minimize chatting.
  • Pray in whatever way you like: read (quietly) from the Bible, pray the Rosary, Chaplet, or Liturgy of the Hours, use the 40 Days for Life daily email as a source for prayer and meditation, or pray spontaneously as you are moved.
  • Remember to pray for those who work at the abortion facility; they are additional victims of the evil of abortion, and somemay be post-abortive.
  • Think of how you present yourself - you represent the prolife movement. Make sure you project peace, love, and hope. Be approachable. Smile.
  • Keep the vigil site clean and free of litter.
  • Bring a cell phone.
  • Dress warmly! You can always take off layers if you’re warm, but you won’t last long if you’re cold.
  • Follow any directions given by police.

Please Don’t…

  • Please don’t yell at or speak angrily or disrespectfully to PP’s clients or staff or passersby…no matter how others may speak to you. Sometimes silence is the best response. It’s against the law to say or do anything that could be construed as “intimidating.”
  • Please don’t bring signs that have a condemning message; these signs do not have a positive effect on Planned Parenthood clients. And as part of 40 Days for Life, we want to convey the hope of a better way: “Pregnant? We Can Help,” “Women Deserve Better than Abortion,” “Hurting from Past Abortion? There is Hope.” “Pray to End Abortion”

Sign up to Vigil

Sign up to participate in the vigil at 40daysfw.org. When you sign up to cover a slot on the vigil calendar, your name will not appear online; the schedule will show that the time slot is covered by a "Prayer Volunteer."
If you are a first-time vigil participant, try to arrange to go to the vigil with someone else. Or utilize the information on the Vigil Schedule to sign up for a time when others will be there. If you do not have computer access or have any trouble using the Vigil Schedule, you can call Karla DiFilippo at (260) 341-7839.

Signing up helps us to find the gaps in the schedule and work to fill them.

Statement of Peace

To participate in the vigil, we ask you to sign a "Statement of Peace" pledging to conduct yourself in a Christ-like manner. You can sign the form online when you create an account on the website, print it from the "Local Resources" box, or request it by calling Karla DiFilippo at (260) 341-7839.

Parking

Free church parking is available at Pilgrim Holiness Church on 15156 Ardmore Avenue. Also, for those with limited mobility, the parking is close to the vigil site, and paved.

DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE DENTALOFFICE BUILDING NEXT TO THE CHURCH ON JEFFERSON. WE MUST HONOR THEIR REQUESTS.

Restroom Facilities

The closest restroom facility is the church’s restroom. They have graciously allowed us to use their restrooms so please be respectable and help keep them clean.
