Kenneth J. Fawcett Jr., MD, is Vice President of Care Model Transformation for Spectrum Health.Spectrum Health is a not-for-profit, award winning, integrated health system based in West Michigan. Our organization includes a medical center, regional community hospitals, a dedicated children's hospital, a multispecialty medical group and a nationally recognized health plan, Priority Health. Spectrum Health Medical Group is a multispecialty physician group dedicated to putting patients' needs first.

Background

Before assuming the role of Vice President Care Model Transformation for Spectrum Health, Dr. Fawcett served as the Spectrum Health Medical Group’s Interim President, Chief Medical Officer, and before that, as Department Chief of Primary Care.

Dr. Fawcett was one of the founding members of the employed physician group--Butterworth Health Partners—in 1997. He has served in several leadership roles within the physician organization; initially as Chairman of Butterworth Health Partners and was appointed the first medical director and eventually became executive medical director while facilitating the transition of the group into the newly created Spectrum Health Medical Group (SHMG) in 2008. Dr. Fawcett served as the first chair of the SHMG Board of Directors.

He is a former member of the Spectrum Health System Board of Directors and has been providing clinical care as well as physician leadership in the community since 1993. At the hospital level, Dr. Fawcett served on the department of internal medicine professional standards committee for several years. He has been involved with resident and student education programs in inpatient and outpatient settings for internal medicine and pediatrics.

Dr. Fawcett also was a member of the Priority Health Board of Directors and contributed to several Priority Health committees, including the quality integration committee (the long-term planning committee to look at future funding, and Partners in Performance (PIP) and Pay for Performance (P4P) development and methodology), community medical director committee, and the pharmacy and therapeutics committee, which he chaired for 12 years.

Dr. Fawcett completed his undergraduate training at Albion College and graduate training at University of Michigan Medical School. He completed a combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich.
