TITLE: Criminal Justice Teacher Certified Position

Full-Time, 10-Month Position Affiliation: Teacher’s Association

Career & Technical Education Department Location: CTE, Powell Building

DUTIES:Teach the NYS approved curriculum for Criminal Justice for high school students that focuses on new and emerging occupations in the fields of law enforcement, as well as public and private security. Teach using hands-on learning strategies in a CTE setting to meet graduation requirements. Plan instructional assessments. Co-plan instruction for integrated academics with integrated academic teachers. Maintain all necessary records and adhere to all mandated services for student’s Individual Education Plans. Report all appropriate information to office staff and communicate regularly with families. Participate in staff meetings and Professional Learning Communities, as well as all required professional development activities. Monitor and evaluate student performance and maintain all data, including attendance.Develop and manage student work experiences consistent with the curriculum. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess New York State Teacher Certification in Unique and Emerging

Occupations (Public and Private Security OR Security Operations 7-12), at least 4 years of full-time professional experience in an area related directly to criminal justice, law enforcement, etc. and have extensive knowledge and skills in public and private security, criminal justice, police science, etc. Must be willing to become CTE teacher certified. Previous successful high school teaching experience is preferred. Must be willing to stay abreast of the latest law enforcement regulations and laws. Must be a team player;possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and data management skills, along with strong teaching and computer skills.

START DATE: September 4, 2018.

SALARY: $45,200.00 (2018-2019 full-time teacher base salary), plus additional salary credit for

graduate credits, Master’s Degree and prior related experience. Excellent benefits are available.
