VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System

Internship Program

The Psychology Internship Program (PIP) at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS) is an APPIC member. The PIP is not APA-accredited. Our program provides training in a variety of settings including in the Behavioral Health Integration Program (BHIP)/Primary Care Integration, the Addictive Disorders Treatment Program (ADTP), the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Clinical Treatment Team, and the Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (beginning 2017). It also offers the opportunity to participate in an Evidenced Based Psychotherapy Clinical rotation that provides training in a variety of evidenced-based treatment modalities (i.e. CPT, PE, CBT-I, etc). In addition to the Psychology Internship Program, VASNHS provides training to practicum students pursuing their Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). This provides an opportunity for Interns to engage in laddered supervision of practicum trainees. Please see our brochure for additional information.

The Psychology Internship Program encourages applications from qualified candidates, regardless of age, race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, transgender status, pregnancy, disability, genetic information, marital status, parental status, political affiliation, or other minority status. The internship aims to foster a diverse Psychology workforce and supports an inclusive work environment that ensures equal opportunity. We encourage Psychology trainees of diverse backgrounds, in all of the ways that diversity is expressed, to apply to the Psychology internship program.
