GENERAL FUNCTION / Under the direction of the Youth Programs Coordinator, the Kids Club Coordinator is responsible for managing and developing after school programsat our Alturas Elementary location within the Youth Department.Provide quality programs and excellent customer service while maintaining safety standards that meet the association guidelines, mission and goals. Establish a program calendar, maintain a high level of professionalism while engaging with youth, coworkers, parents and school personnel.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS /
  • Minimum of two years of college or related experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in child care and/or education.
  • Supervisory, budgeting, and program management experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required.
  • Background must include strong skills in human relations, program management, excellent verbal and written skills, staff development, and staff supervision.
  • Ability to respond and take the lead in emergency situations, and follow proper emergency procedures.
  • Must be able to work autonomously within the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
  • Ability to build genuine relationships with participants and maintain a welcoming environment with people from all walks of life.
  • Ability to interact with the broad spectrum of member and staff diversity.

  • Must complete the online and in-house New Employee Orientation upon hire.

  • Builds and maintains professional relationships with leadership staff who manage an area of the Y that is involved in the after school program and responsible for the program’s high quality and various enrichment activities. Examples of these leadership staff include the Aquatics Director, Yoga Coordinator, Room Reservations Coordinator, and Greenhouse Coordinator).
  • Must build relationships with community partners who are involved in after school projects. Must maintain relationships with these external organizations and grow our relationships.
  • Must communicate professionally and promptly to parents in all areas (registrations, weekly schedule emailed, and with concerns).

  • Keeps First Aid bags up-to-date and incident reports stocked.
  • Files incidents reports to supervisor and helps insure staff complete reports.

  • Ensures that all staff hasthe tools, training,and resources needed to accomplish their objectives in member engagement, education, and cleaning.

  • Implements strategies resulting in increased retention and quality targets being achieved.
  • Meets revenues and expense goals as outlined in annual budget.
  • Recruits signups for program: works with marketing coordinator, visits school events, creates flyers, and contacts returning families.
  • Prepares statistical, analytical, and narrative reports regarding programs and operations of the department as needed.
  • Learns member’s names and uses them frequently.
  • Introduces members to other members and staff.

  • Presents after school program updates to Y staff and board members through weekly staff meetings and board functions.

  • Is responsible for equipment; walkie talkies, camera, outlet cords (playing music), computer systems, and other electronics.
VOLUNTEERISM
  • Must work with the volunteer coordinator to recruit and develop volunteers.
  • Uses volunteers effectively in all program areas where appropriate.
  • Provides volunteers with orientation, training, development, and recognition.
FINANCE & QUALITY RESULTS
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the site operating budget to meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Monitors program income and ensures all participants make payments (Ketchum after school program, all day outs, and early outs).
  • Monitors scholarship program and works with the membership staff to award scholarships to appropriately.
  • Provides accurate and current information regarding past and future financial performance of the department to the Director.
  • Prepares or is involved with the preparation and presentation of the annual budget.
  • Assists with grant writing and information submission.
PHILANTHROPY
  • Assists withY fundraising and the Annual Classic.
  • Provides information regarding current and potential funding sources, both private and public, with Association staff.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with current and potential donors to increase their understanding of and commitment to the cause of the Y.
  • Consciously seeks to identify individuals who have passion and capacity and match them with Y opportunities to contribute.
  • Cultivates relationships to support fundraising.

DEVELOPING OTHERS &SELF DEVELOPMENT

  • Trains staff on areas of responsibilities and duties, through checklists and job shadowing, in the three key objective areas: cleaning, teaching, and engaging.
  • Serves as role model for all behaviors required from youth department staff.
  • Is regularly observed in the youth areas completing duties.
  • Supervises and coaches staff by setting up formal and informal, individual and group meetings.
  • Develops self and staff through meetings and performance objectives by creating and following a development plan that is created together

WORKING CONDITIONS /
  • Must have the ability to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization.
  • The physical ability to stand and walk for extensive periods of time, as well as the ability to lift weights of up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, and kneeling.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
  • Ability to work in excess of a 40-hour week with irregular work hours.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs.
  • Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
