Workshop Description:Participants will gain an understanding of the basic characteristics of Juvenile Sex Offender (JSO) and Youth with Sexually Abusive Behaviors (YSAB) and the dynamics of sexual offending; learn to identify various treatment modalities and their efficacy as the relate to JSO/YSAB Treatment (e.g. CBT, CBT-TF, MDT, Behavioral Therapy); understand the characteristics of JSO/YSAB that impact the appropriateness of common treatment interventions, understand the goals of JSO/YSAB treatment; identify the role of Individual Risk Factors in determining treatment components; and understand roles of victim, family, and JSO/YSAB in family reunification.

Target Audience: Staff from public and private agencies and organizations who are interested in receiving certification by the State of Ohio for juvenile sex offender treatment programs.

Presenter: Dr. Tyffani Dent, Psy. D.

Tyffani Monford Dent, Psy.D. is a Licensed Psychologist who has worked with children, adolescents, and their families in a variety of settings. Currently, Dr. Dent is the Clinical Coordinator of Residential Services at the Cleveland Christian Home in Cleveland, Ohio. At the Cleveland Christian Home, Dr. Dent supervises the clinical aspects of the residential and juvenile court sex offender treatment programs and was instrumental in the development of both programs. In addition, she counsels and completes assessments on children and adolescents with a variety of mental health issues including those related to sexual abuse and sexual aggression.

Dr. Dent is a Clinical Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA), as well as the Chapter President of Ohio ATSA. Dr. Dent presents a variety of workshops assisting parents and caregivers in providing safe and healthy environments for sexual abuse survivors and perpetrators as well as clinical trainings on assessment and treatment of juveniles who have sexually abused others.
