Train the Trainer Training Programme (P. Supervision)

HSE, Professional Supervision for Health and Social Care Professions (Supervisors)

Criteria for selection of participants for Train the Trainer Training Programme (Professional Supervision):

  • Senior practitioners and managers with at least three years’ experience in their specific role and discipline
  • Knowledge and understanding of HSCPsand of the roles and responsibilities of participant disciplines
  • Interest in and commitment to developing their knowledge-base and skills regarding Professional Supervision
  • Experience of Professional Supervision as a supervisee and as a supervisor
  • Evidence of integration of learning from the HSEland eLearning module on Professional Supervision for HSCP
  • Experience of Facilitation, Team-working and Training provision (in any context)
  • IT skills – power point for presentation; MS word; excel; etc.
  • Commitment to own and others’ CPD and integration to area of practice
  • Capacity to plan for and deliver the required training. Organisational skills e.g. co-ordinate training events including training rooms; link with the National HSCP Office; maintain relevant documentation;
  • Discipline mix and geographical locations are significant factors in the selection of trainers
  • Prospective trainers are expected to; be self-aware practitioners who display initiative, openness and willingness to learn, be approachable, adaptable and flexible in approach, use creative and analytical thinking with a positive, proactive, problem-solving attitude and strong communication skills.
  • Written commitment from the line manager to the agreed release as part of their current roleinitially 24 months, with a built in review thereafter to discuss future release as follows;

First year: (14 days) – 2018 – 2019

  1. Participate in the 4 Day Professional Supervision for HSE HSCP Training Programme (Supervisors) delivered in two parts two consecutive days each.
  2. If selected, participate in the 4 day Train the Trainer Programme delivered in two parts to consecutive days each. Please see dates on page 2.
  3. Deliver one Professional Supervision for HSE HSCP (Supervisors) Training Programmes within the Autumn of 2018 following completion of the Train the Trainer Programme including ½ day preparation for each course and ½ day wrap-up time following the course delivery.
  4. Avail of support offered via National HSCP Office for training delivery.
  5. Engagement in Supervision for the trainers – equivalent to 1 day per year

Subsequent year: (12 days) 2019 -2020

  1. Delivery of a minimum of 2 (4-day) courses per year plus 1 xhalf day assigned to preparation for each course and 1x half day wrap-up time following the course delivery;
  2. Updates/refreshers – 2 x ½ days per year

(the dates required will be planned in advance on an annual basis to

allow maximum notice for release)

  1. Engagement in Supervision for the trainers – equivalent to 1 day per year

7th & 8th March AND 16th17th April 2018.

AND

Train the Trainer Programme

21st & 22nd May AND 18th & 19th June 2018

Both the four day Professional Supervision for HSEHSCP Training Programme (Supervisors) and the Train the Trainer Training Programmewill involve those attending todemonstratethe key required skills, knowledge and attributes as outlined above, to support the effectively delivery nationally of the Professional Supervision Training Programme for HSCP’s Supervisors.
