CookPrimary School Software Applications

The following computer programs are available for all students in kindergarten through second grades. The students are taught these programs during weekly visits to the computer lab. Computer lessons are based on skills taught in the classrooms and then the applications are explained along with a review of the skills.

Let’s Start Learning

Kids will learn motor skills, visual perception, auditory discrimination, visual and auditory memory, comprehension and concentration with this software. Have loads of fun exploring five different playworlds: Counting Club, ABC Diner, Shape Shack, Pattern Parade and The Carousel. The entrance to each activity has many hidden clickables and an animated character who sings about what you will find when you click on the entrance door. If kids need help while playing, they can click on the character for a hint.
Reader Rabbit’s Reading Journey

Children learn phonics and site words that are essential to reading success. Kids play fun activities as they learn sounds that are associated with letters and groups of letters. Site words are introduced and repeated in activities and storybooks. Sixty-four read-along storybooks reinforce skills learned. Kids hear words and sounds and learn to sound out and build words. Before you know it they are reading right along with Reader Rabbit.

Lexia Early Reading

Using the computer, students work at a pace determined by their own abilities, starting in Level 1 to practice basic phonemic skills, including rhyming, blending, segmenting, and identifying beginning and ending sounds. In Level 2, students begin to practice letter-sound correspondence for consonants, short-vowels and digraphs.

Lexia Primary Reading

Lexia Primary Reading is a computer based supplemental reading program designed to help all learners master basic reading skills. Through independent practice, students build speed and accuracy in the application of phonics skills. The program develops critical phonological reading skills to foster automatic word recognition while monitoring for meaning. The activities promote comprehension skills through the application of phonological strategies to single words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs and stories and emphasize listening skills and following directions.

Thinkin’ Things Collection 1

Good thinkers learn quickly, adapt to change easily and accomplish remarkable things. Thinkin' Things Collection 1is a powerful set of tools and toys to help children strengthen observation and memory, improve problem solving and encourage creativity.

Thinkin’ Things Collection 3

Students encounter five thought-provoking activities and puzzles, which they tackle through a process of trial and error, developing and testing hypotheses and discovering for themselves what works - or doesn't work. They can try their hand as detectives, commodity brokers and directors of a wild half-time football show, explore special visual effects and conduct "virtual" physics experiments.

CLASSWORKS

Classworks is based on an integrated learning system model with standards-based curriculum, with an educationally sound and carefully designed management system. This model allows student progress from assessments and mastery of objectives and standards, as well as other critical concepts such as time on task, to be measured and guide the learning process.
