Postdoctoral researcher position in Learning and Assessing Risks for
Enhancing Dependability of Autonomous Socio-Technical Systems

Finland. It is located in south-west of Finland in the city of Turku

ÅboAkademi University invites applications for a postdoctoral
researcher position starting 1st of March 2018. This is a temporary
position until December 31st 2018 with a possibility to extend till
December 31 2019 based on the assessment of the progress. Further
extensions are not possible.
The position is placed at the Faculty of Science and Engineering in
Turku. This postdoctoral researcher position is within the major
subject of computer engineering.
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher, who will contribute
to the Academy of Finland project LARA: Learning and Assessing Risks
for Enhancing Dependability of Autonomous Socio-Technical Systems. The
main duties include carrying high quality research and teaching. The
research part focuses on data-driven approaches to risk analysis of
autonomous socio-technical systems, risk prediction and mitigation
techniques as well as integrated modelling approaches for reliable
software development.
The candidate is also required to teach master-level courses in
software engineering and contribute to performing administrative tasks.
Requirements for the position:
- PhD in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information
Technologies or closely related field,
- Strong mathematical background,
- Knowledge of risk analysis, risk prediction and mitigation techniques,
- Knowledge of data-driven approaches to modelling and analyzing
socio-technical systems,
- Knowledge of advanced software engineering technologies and
modelling techniques,
- Willingness to contribute to teaching courses in software engineering area,
- Research independence and capability to write high-quality research papers,
- Teaching experience,
- Great written and oral English communication skills,
- Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

- Must enjoy taking considerable responsibility and initiative,

Salary
The salary for postdoctoral researcher will be based on levels 4-5 of
the job demand level for teaching and research personnel in the salary
system of Finnish universities

Language
Language requirements at ÅboAkademi University are defined in 78 § of
the University Act (558/2009) and in the ÅboAkademi University
internal language instructions (accepted by the University Board 25
February 2010).
International applicants are encouraged to apply, as knowledge of
Swedish is not a requirement for non-Finnish candidates upon start of
the employment. The international candidates should receive residence
permit and reside in Finland before the contract can be issued. As the
administrative and teaching language of the university is primarily
Swedish, the person appointed should acquire such knowledge of Swedish
during his or her employment, so that he or she will be able to
successfully participate in teaching and administrative tasks in
Swedish in the future.
