Orthopedic Post-operative Orders

7.  Activities: Ad lib or Only with Assistance, OOB to Chair TID

8.  Nursing.

  1. O2 to keep sats > 96%
  2. Bilateral SCD’s or foot pump, if not precluded by surgical dressing or splint.
  3. Strict I’s and O’s.
  4. Reinforce Dressing prn.
  5. Ice packs to operative site for twenty minutes q one hour for 48 hours.
  6. IS q one hour when awake, instruct patient to use and keep at bedside, cough and deep breathing q 4 hours.

9.  PT in AM for ______

10.  Diet Regular or 2200 cal ADA advance as tolerated.

11. IVF D51/2 NS w/ 20 meq K+/L or D5 ½ NS at ______cc/hr. HL IVF tol po intake.

12. Meds

  1. Ancef one gram IVPB q 8 hours for 48 hours , next dose at ______, if allergic______
  2. MVI one tablet po qd.
  3. Tylenol one gram po/pr q 4 hours prn headache, or temperature > 101 degrees Fahrenheit. Watch Tylenol Consumption
  4. Laxative of choice
  5. Colace 100 mg po q d and prn q 12 hours.
  6. Patient routine meds as follows
  7. Phenergan 12.5-25 milligrams IV/IM/PO/PR q six hours prn
  8. Percocet 5mg/325mg one to two tablets every three to six hours by mouth prn
  9. Ms04 per PCA
