Manitoba
Corporations Canada / Corporations Canada does not collect NAICS code.
Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
California / California is similar to Washington.
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
District of Columbia
Florida / Florida does not.
Georgia / Georgia, just started capturing NAICS codes last year with our new system.
Hawaii / Hawaii does not capture the NAICS codes in our business registration system.
We do have a multi-department filing online system, Wizard, where it asks for
the NAICS code, but I believe it is for our State Tax Department.
Idaho
Illinois / Illinois does not record NAICS codes.
Indiana / Indiana does not. However, it has been considered as a possible addition to INBiz since we are connected with Department of Revenue and Department of Workforce development.
Iowa
Kansas / We do not but we are considering partnering with the Department of Revenue in their new business tax registration system for our one stop filing system. They request that information.
Kentucky
Louisiana / Louisiana collects NAICS codes through our geauxBIZ portal for the Louisiana Department of Revenue only. We do not store the information but just pass it on.
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota / Actually, MN is starting to capture NAICS codes on a voluntary basis in our Minnesota Business Snapshot. However, we have not yet had a full season of collection and have only a few thousand entries thus far. We are only collecting a very general look, just the first two digits.
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana / Montana does not capture NAICS codes. We do collect basic “nature of business” information for some of our entities.
Nebraska
Nevada / Nevada collects NAICS through our SilverFlume business portal. NAICS codes are not collected as part of business entity filing process but as a voluntary common business registration item. Other agencies partnering with the portal may require NAICS codes.

New Jersey

New York
North Carolina / North Carolina does not capture the NAICS codes at the Secretary of State's Office.
North Dakota
Ohio / Ohio does not capture this information.
Oklahoma
Oregon
Pennsylvania / Pennsylvania does not capture or collect NAICS codes.
Rhode Island / Rhode Island does collect NAICS codes. We just began to collect NAICS codes with the 2016 limited liability company annual reports. Previously we had an open text field for businesses to report their purpose, collecting the NAICS code will allow us to generate more accurate figures when we are asked “how many restaurants do you have of record?
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah / yes, Utah does, although we don't use it for anything in our Division
Vermont
Virginia
Washington / Washington Office of the Secretary of State does not capture NAICS codes. There is inconsistency in the way NAICS are applied between the different state agencies so it would serve little/no benefit for us to record it with the entity filings.
Instead we have the customer provide a basic “Nature of Business” in the recordings.
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Wyoming
