Re:SHA “AA” Committee
This past summer the SHA Board of Directors followed through from discussions held last season during SHA Zone Meetings to create a “AA” Committee which would address the state of “AA” in the Province. A Committee consisting of the following people met to discuss “AA” Hockey in the Province;

The Committee reviewed Registration numbers throughout the province for the past year in regards to the available numbers of players that each AA had within their drawing areas as well as what registration number look like in the younger age groups.
This data is attached.
The process that will be followed is as follows;
“AA” Committee met and developed recommendations
Recommendations will be discussed at SHA Fall Zone Meetings and feedback gathered from attendees (Note; All Minor Hockey Association/League Presidents and Guest are invited)
Feedback will be reviewed at the SHA Board of Directors Meeting in November
Final draft of Recommendations will be developed for Winter SHA Zone Meetings
Final Recommendations will be discussed at Winter SHA Zone Meetings for final feedback from members and taken to the SHA Board of Directors for final discussion and drafting of possible amendments to the SHA Regulations to be proposed at the June SHA AGM.
The Recommendations are as follows;
- Open up the Geographical Subdivision Boundaries of Moose Jaw and Prince Albert for Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget AA
- Atom Age Division
- No inclusion of “AA” at the Atom age division
- Pee Wee Age Division
- Four League Champions playoff for Provincial Championship – no separate Provincial playoff while League is being run – may mean a later date than March 31 to complete Provincials
- Eliminate the following Pee Wee AA Teams; Meadow Lake and Melville due to low registration numbers
- Bantam Age Division
- Add a second team in the Sask Valley area due to large registration numbers
- Eliminate the following team; Melville
- Midget Age Division
- Apply the same Regulation as Pee Wee and Bantam that players must try out for the nearest “AA” team to their residence
- Midget AA teams have the ability to Affiliate players from any of the centers that make up their team
- Two League Champions playoff for Provincial Championship – no separate Provincial playoff while League is being run – may mean a later date than March 31 to complete Provincials
- Eliminate the following Midget AA Teams; Midwest, Melville and Unity
- West Central based out of Dodsland have Pee Wee to Midget teams
