Day Camp Church Liaison

Dear Host Home Families,

Thank you for opening your home to the NLOM Day Camp Staff Team. We are really looking forward to a great week of Day Camp, and know the NLOM Staff Team will bring enthusiasm and a special sense of camp to our campers. It is going to be a week of growing experiences for all of us involved in Day Camp.

A few notes on your role as a host family:

•The NLOM Staff will be arriving Sunday night. They will be at the church about 5:30 p.m. and will spend the evening preparing for the next day. They will arrive at your home between 9-10 p.m. Please leave the porch light on for them. Share with the staff your household rules related to snacks, meal times, computer use and laundry. Let them know how they can help with household tasks and point out any off-limit areas.

•The staff will be picked up each day by NLOM staff and delivered back home each day around 5 p.m. They are not allowed to transport campers in the camp van.

•Day Camp runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9 to 1 p.m. on Friday. Staff will be departing your home early so they can get things in place for the day and have follow-up work to do each day after camp is over. Evenings may involve other programs so staff will review their plans with you on Monday.

•Monday night has been reserved by the staff as Host Family night. This is a night we have left open so they can get better acquainted with the family. They would enjoy taking in a ball game, seeing local sites with your family or just sitting at home visiting.

•Tuesday night is a staff meeting night. They’ll do supper together as a group, Bible study and re-group for the week. They will be home by 10:00 p.m.

•Wednesday and Thursday nights are for congregation programs. Staff will let you know if they will be home either of these nights for the evening meal or if the programs include a meal. They will be home by 10 p.m.

•The staff leave following the Closing Program on Friday. They will plan to pack up and say their good-byes Friday morning when they leave for Day Camp. You are all invited to join us at noon on Friday for lunch and the closing program. Please bring your own lunch.

Remember, you are responsible for breakfast and supper unless other arrangements are made with the staff. Staff are not allowed to smoke in your home or in front of children. They are also not allowed to have any alcoholic beverages no matter how old they are or how comfortable you may be with this. They’d appreciate an opportunity to check their e-mail if you have internet service. If for any reason you have a concern related to the staff in your home please contact me immediately so we can resolve the issue.

Again, thank you for providing a home away from home for these faith-filled NLOM staff members. I am sure you will find them to be great role models for your children, a resource for family devotions and prayer and an enthusiastic addition to your family.
