Communications and Marketing Department
Communications and Marketingstaff help build and maintain Orphans in Need's brand image and reputationin line with the charity's strategic objectives.
Job Purpose
To develop and manage marketing and promotional materials, maintain the highest professional standards in design and ensure consistency of OIN’s brand image.
To raise OIN's profile and build its reputation and trust amongst the target market through a variety of communication channels in line with the communications and marketing strategy.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY DUTIES
Campaigns & Strategy
  • To plan, budget and deliver OIN's campaigns across the agreed marketing channels - within the approved budget.
  • To engage the Fundraising Department for the delivery of key campaigns
  • To develop the Communications and Marketing plan and budget in line with OIN's strategic objectives.
  • To plan, budget and deliver marketing events.
Publications
  • To develop and edit marketing, communications and fundraising materials that appropriately target the inteded audience.
  • To work with designers, producers and printers in the creation of marketing and communications materials
  • To ensure that all communications and marketing materials are professional, courteous, accurate and consistent with the objectives of the Fundraising and Communication and Marketing plans and consistent with OIN's brand image.
Media & External Affairs
  • To communicate and market OIN's core brand identity and charitable work to all stakeholders
  • To ensure that OIN gets the best deal possible when negotiating space on desired marketing channels.
  • To build and manage relations with media organisations and other stakeholders.
  • To be responsible for organising OIN's marketing activities and events in accordance with the Marketing and Communications and Fundraising plan.
  • To ensure all outgoing messages are consistent with the overall Communications and Marketing objectives and accurate.
  • To attract consistent and positive media coverage for the charity's work.
General
  • To contribute to the total effectiveness of the Communications and Marketing Department, communicating openly, solving problems proactively, offering creative ideas and working as a positive and engaged team member.
  • To develop key messages for all audiences including donors, volunteers, trustees, media, the general public and other stakeholders.
  • To assist with Fundraising events and appeals.
  • To represent OIN at events.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the accountabilities of the post

Qualification & Training

  • To be educated to degree level in the field of Marketing or Communications or any other related field.
Experience
  • Strong experience in a marketing and communications role.
  • Solid experience in copywriting, proof reading and editing materials for various communications channels.
  • Experience of developing and project managing large events and marketing campaigns: planning through to launch.
  • Experience of delivering campaigns across a variety of marketing channels, including direct mail, websites, online campaigns (including SEO), emails, social media
  • Experience of print, production and electronic material design processes and techniques.
  • Experience of working in the charity sector.
