TITLE: Research, Fund Raising and Publicity Activities Policy

It is House of New Hope’s policy that:

Research:

No employee will involve a child or family in research projects without their prior consent as demonstrated by written permission by the individual, the parent, guardian or legal custodian, as well as the child in accordance with the child’s age and functioning level. The purpose of this policy is to protect agency clients from involvement in research on evaluation projects which are above and beyond the normal and routine treatment or evaluation activities of the agency.

The agency shall:

1.Obtain consent of the executive director to participate in any research project.

2.Ensure that the employee of House of New Hope designated to supervise the proposed project will ensure the written consent of all participants.

3.Retain such written consent in the youth’s case record.

4.Follow all steps detailed in the agency’s client research procedure.

Fund raising:

No employee will involve a child or family in fundraising activities without their prior consent as demonstrated by written permission of the individual, parent, guardian or legal custodian, as well as the child in accordance with the child’s age and functional level. House of New Hope recognizes the need for enhancing revenue through fundraising activity while simultaneously protecting children and families from exploitive involvement in fundraising activities.

The agency shall:

1.Obtain the written consent of the executive director or designee.

2.Ensure that the employee of House of New Hope designated to supervise the fundraising activity will ensure the written consent of all participants, families,guardians and legal custodians.

3.Retain such written consent in the youth’s case record.

Publicity:

No employee will involve a child or family in publicity activities without their prior consent demonstrated by written permission of the individual, parent, guardian or legal custodian, as well as the child in accordance with the child’s age and functional level. The purpose of this policy is to demonstrate how House of New Hope is to engage and publicity activities and simultaneously protect children and family from exploitation from publicity activities.

The agency shall:

1.Obtain the written consent of the executive director or designee.

2.Ensure that the employee of House of New Hope designated to supervise the publicity activity will ensure the written consent of all participants, families, guardians and legal custodians.

3.Retain such written consent in the youth’s case record.
