Wiseman #1~We are the Three Wise Men and we have traveled from far away lands to tell you our story.

Wiseman #2 ~ When we were children, like you, our parents taught us the words of the prophets from the Holy Scriptures. We learned of Heavenly Father’s plan.

Wiseman #3 ~As we grew up we learned to study and love the words of the prophets. We spent much of our time learning about the things that Heavenly Father had revealed to prophets.

Wiseman #1~ We learned that the Son of God would be born on the earth.

Wiseman #2 ~ The prophets wrote that a new star in the heavens would be a sign that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, had been born.

♫~ Primary sings ~ Samuel Tells of The Baby Jesus, (CS, p.36)

Wiseman #3 ~ We searched the heavens for many years looking for the new star that was the promised sign.

Wiseman #1 ~ We decided to seek out Jesus Christ. We prepared gifts to take to Him. It was a very exciting night when the new star burned brightly in the sky.

Wiseman #2~ When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Herod was the ruler of the land.We traveled from the east to Jerusalem, and when we arrived we asked Herod, “Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east and have come to worship him.”

Wiseman #3 ~ When King Herod heard this – he was upset. He did not want any one to have more power than he did. He gathered the chief priests and the scribes together and demanded that they tell him where Christ should be born. They told him,” He will be born in Bethlehem, for it was written by a prophet.” King Herod then came to us and asked us to go find the Christ child and return to tell him where the child was so that he may also worship him. We learned later that Herod did not want to worship Jesus but wanted to destroy Him. So we did not return to tell Herod.

Wiseman #1 ~ We departed and followed the star with exceeding great joy. The star led us to the place where we saw the young child and his mother, Mary. We fell on our knees and worshiped him.

Wiseman #2 ~ We opened our treasures and presented our gifts to Him. Our gifts revealed something about whom Jesus is and what he came to do. I brought Gold.In our days gold represented “value”.Gold is the gift for a king.Gold, the king of metals is a fit gift for the King of Men. Jesus was born to be our King. He did not come to force men into his kingdom with a powerful army, but by the power of His gospel He would convince us to believe and follow. He loves us and has asked, ”Come follow me.” He would rule over men’s hearts, not from a throne, but as the Son of God, the Savior of all mankind.

Wiseman #3 ~ I brought Frankincense. It is the gift for a Priest. It was in the Temple worship and at the Temple sacrifices that the sweet perfume of frankincense was used. The function of a priest is to help open the way for men to come unto Heavenly Father.Jesus opened the way to Heavenly Father; he made it possible for men to return into HIS very presence.

Wiseman #1 ~ I brought Myrrh. It is the gift for one who is to die; myrrh was used to prepare and clean the bodies of the dead before they were buried.Jesus came into the world to live for men, and in the end, to die for men. His atonement makes it possible for us to be washed clean of our sins so we can enter into the presence of Heavenly Father. Thereby, He came to cleanse us from sin and prepare a way for us to have eternal life.

♫ ~ Primary sings ~ He Sent His Son, (CS, p.34-35)

Wiseman #2 ~ As we presented our gifts to the babe, feelings of great joy filled our hearts. As precious as these gifts were they were not very practical for a child. But they did do something for us.

Wiseman #3 ~ The gifts we brought helped us to show appreciation, give thanks and honor him in recognition of the divine mission He was to perform to save us all from sin.As we think about the gift of eternal life that He has provided for us, the Spirit can bless us with a greater understanding of this marvelous gift.

Wiseman #1 ~ Gratitude for what he did helps us feel thankful and our ability to show love to others increases. This feeling “of wanting to give, to be of service, to think of others, is sometimes called the “Spirit of Christmas.”To understand the real meaning of this phrase, we need only remove the last three letters and it becomes the “Spirit of Christ.”

Wiseman #2 ~ We have brought a gift for each of you. It is a star with a picture of Jesus on it. You can hang it on your tree or place it on the top of the tree. It will help you remember the journey that we took following the new star to find Jesus Christ. As you look at this star you can think of where you are on your journey in seeking Jesus Christ and the gift he offers each of us. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

♫ ~ Primary sings ~ 1st verse of Picture a Christmas, (CS, p.50-51)
