This is Tripp Crayton, Principal at Jordan-Matthews High School, with your bi-weekly announcement.

I wish to thank the numerous people who came to make Homecoming a tremendous success. From the Homecoming Court, parade, and pep rally to the Homecoming shirts and tailgate, Jordan-Matthews stands out for their awesome Homecoming festivities. Our strong tradition continues with a supportive community coming together to give back to JM.

Note that E. Raleigh Street in Siler City will be closed for pipe replacement near Mountaire Farms parking lot construction area from October 17th to October 27th. Note that a detour will be in place, so plan accordingly.

Report cards will be distributed on Wednesday, October 18th. Please review this important document so that we all can ensure the success of every student at Jordan-Matthews High School.

A College Financial Aid assistance and information event will take place in our media center on Tuesday,October 24, 2017from6:30–7:30 pm. All parents are welcome, and you are encouraged to bring your student’s laptop and your personal tax returns.

Fall Picture Retake will take place on Monday, October 23rd. Students who did not get their pictures made last month, or wish to retake, may do so on the morning of the 23rd. More information will be shared with students.

On Tuesday, October 24th, all Juniors will take a practice ACT and all Sophomores will take the Pre-ACT. The ACT is paramount for our students to be successful, and more information will be shared with you and our students as we get closer. In fact, students must receive a certain score on the ACT their junior year to ensure they have the necessary preparation prior to choosing their senior English and Math class. More information will be forthcoming, but it is important that all students take these practice tests seriously.

We will be sponsoring the Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Friday, October 27th from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. in our cafeteria. Your $5 ticket includes dinner accompanied by performances of traditional dancing, music, piñatas, and singing. Bring your entire family to this fun-filled event. If you wish to make a donation of plates, napkins, plastic ware, bottled water, or sodas, please feel free to drop this items off in our front office.
