The Vocabulary Log

A vocabulary log is a great way to remember new words because you can use it to study in your free time. Therefore, every Monday you will hand in a vocabulary log. A vocabulary log is a list of ten words from the Academic Word List at http://www.academicvocabularyexercises.com/index.htm. I will give you the words from the list that I want you to remember, and for each word, you must write its part of speech, definition in English, and two example sentences containing the word. If a word has several parts of speech, just choose one. Also, most words have several different definitions, so just pick one and make sure your example sentences have that meaning. You may copy sentences from a dictionary, answers.com, or even a web concordancer. The following is our first vocabulary log. You will have to complete all 10 words to get full credit for this log. Finally, do not forget to study these words because you will be quizzed on one of them the day you hand it in.
