TO ACCESS FULL-TEXT AND ABSTRACTED ARTICLES FROM THE INTERNET

At a TVCC computer:

  1. To access the five databases below:
  2. Go to the TVCC Home page at and click on STUDENT SERVICES
  3. Click on LIBRARY
  4. Click on Research Databases
  5. Click CINAHL complete or Medline
  6. Click Choose Databases
  7. Check all Health related databases, especially CINAHL with Full Text and then click OK
  8. Type in Subject and make sure you check Limit Results to Full Text
  9. Then click Search
  10. To access Galenet:
  11. Galenet is listed as Nursing Research Center.
  12. Galenet is a good resource to find Nursing journals.

At home:

TVCC Personnel & Students can login to the research library by using their cardinal id and password. If assistance is needed, contact Information Technology Services.

Medline – MEDLINE provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 5,400 current biomedical journals.

Alt Health Watch – This database focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition – This database provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines.

Health Source: Consumer Edition – This database is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide, providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food science and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health.

CINAHL Complete – CINAHL Complete is the world’s most comprehensive source of full text for nursing & allied health journals, providing full text for more than 1300 journals indexed in CINAHL.

TO GET FREE COPY OF MICROSOFT OFFICE

TVCC is providing Microsoft Office to every student free of charge. As long as you’re a student here at TVCC, you’ll be able to use this software for free.

To get your Office follow these simple steps:

  1. For PC and Mac:

  3. Click through to install and follow the onscreen process
  4. On the installation page select your language and click install
  5. Sign in with your school credentials for full editing capability
