FEBRUARY IS WORLD UNDERSTANDING MONTH
Hello Fellows,
Welcome back to the Golf Club on completion of the building work.
Last week I presented a certificate of appreciation to the “Bowling Club Volunteers” who have provided for us so well, at short notice, over the past three weeks.
Child Protection: Rotary International Code of Conduct for working with youth, states: “Rotary International is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all participants in Rotary activities. It is the duty of all Rotarians, Rotarian spouses, Partners and other volunteers to safeguard, to the best of their ability, the welfare of, and to prevent the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children and young people with whom they come in contact.”
In order to address this need District 9690 is to hold a seminar/workshop for all interested Rotarians to update their knowledge in this area. Beginning in the 2004/2005 Rotary year it will be a pre-requisite for all those involved in youth programs to attend such training. See below for details of seminar.
Your Board met last night. I will report on that meeting next week.

Ballet Dancer – Camille Erskine
The following extracts from her latest e-mail indicate that Camille is enjoying a very successful tour in Europe.
“Having just completed ‘Swan Lake” I was picked to dance in the ballet’Who Cares’ choreographed by George Balanchine. We had two performances on Saturday which was grueling but great. We have three performances this weekend of that funny production ‘Lucrezia Borgia’ where I am one of the evil women, and we have started rehearsals for a new production of ‘Gizelle’ and it will remain quite traditional”
Camille is coming home at beginning of July for about 4-5 weeks and is looking forward to catching up with everyone.

Strathfield Municipality is well known for its exceptional educational, sporting and cultural, arts and environmental facilities.
