Council Member Bradshaw, seconded by Council Member Granato, moved to approve the minutes of the Salt Lake County Council meeting held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. The motion passed unanimously, showing that all Council Members present voted “Aye.”

Ms. Sarah Pearce, Managing Director, Sundance Institute, spoke under “Citizen Public Input” thanking the Council for its support, and presented it with a framed poster signed by all the award-winning filmmakers of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

Mayor Ben McAdams submitted letters requesting the Council’s advice and consent to the reappointments of Lisa Killpack, Charlotte Fife-Jepperson, and Diane Stewart as members of the Center for the Arts Advisory Board to serve three-year terms. Their terms began January 1, 2016, and will end December 31, 2018.

Mayor Ben McAdams submitted a letter requesting the Council’s advice and consent to the appointment of Bill Applegarth as a member of the Center for the Arts Advisory Board to serve a three-year term. His term will begin March 1, 2016, and end March 1, 2019.

Mayor Ben McAdams submitted a letter requesting the Council’s advice and consent to the reappointment of Kris Johnson as a member of the Copperton Township Planning Commission to serve a three-year term. Her term began January 1, 2014, and will end December 31, 2016.

Mayor Ben McAdams submitted letters requesting the Council’s advice and consent to the reappointments of Scott Adair, Randy Johnson, Alan Chenworth, and Ronde Adams as members of the Copperton Township Planning Commission to serve three-year terms. Their terms began January 1, 2016, and will end December 31, 2018.
Council Member Bradley, seconded by Council Member Bradshaw, moved to ratify the vote taken in the Committee of the Whole meeting. [Council Member Bradshaw, seconded by Council Member Snelgrove, moved to approve the appointments and forward them to the 4:00 p.m. Council meeting for formal consideration. The motion passed unanimously.] The Council motion passed unanimously, showing that all Council Members present voted “Aye.”

Council Member Bradshaw spoke under “Report of Council Members” reporting that he was in Washington D.C. last week, where he attended a Supreme Court argument between the state of Utah and the Salt Lake Legal Defenders, which has national implications. It was the first oral argument in the absence of Justice Antonin Scalia. He also attended the National Association of Counties Legislative Conference there in Washington D.C., along with Council Member Wilson, and visited with former Deputy Mayor Nichole Dunn.

Council Member Newton spoke under “Report of Council Members” stating her new senior policy advisor, Nic Dunn, will start March 21, 2016.

Council Member Bradshaw, seconded by Council Member Granato, moved to schedule a public hearing for Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at 4:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers, to receive comments from the public regarding a Pay for Success Private Enterprise Project Study and proposed appropriation for the project. The motion passed unanimously, showing that all Council Members present voted “Aye.”
