The quality of everything we do depends on the quality of the thinking we do first – Creating a Thinking Environment – a one day workshop.

How many of us truly think for ourselves? If people are the real resources in an ever changing, demanding healthcare environment, then thinking our own thoughts and expressing our own ideas is vital for the long term sustainability of the NHS. So in this interactive one day event, led by “Time to Think” expert Anne Hathaway, we will explore and practice the various ways you can create thinking environments throughout an organisation.

The Thinking Environment is a space pioneered by Nancy Kline, author of the classic text ‘Time to Think’. It is a space in which people are able to think for themselves, and in which they find the courage to put their ideas and thinking into action. Nancy will be delivering a workshop for Chief Executives in London later this year and organisations are encouraged to send senior staff, at Director level, to this October event led by Anne Hathaway, one of Nancy’s top UK facilitators.

At this event participants will learn about ten behaviours that generate the finest independent thinking. These are called the Ten Components of a Thinking Environment® and in the presence of these ten behaviours people think for themselves with rigour, imagination, courage and grace.Participants will:

  • discover and explore in real time the high quality thinking that these Ten Components produce
  • experience the power of removing limiting assumptions that block creative thinking
  • understand the importance of this expertise for working as colleagues, teams and leaders

Anne Hathaway has been described as a “walking Thinking Environment”. Her particular interest is creating a culture of Listening in organisations and the impact this has on engagement and creativity. Anne is a member of the Time to Think Global Faculty, giving her access to all the latest developments in this approach, and has taught in Sweden and France, as well as being the tutor on the UK Time to Think Facilitator programme.. A graduate of Cambridge and INSEAD, Anne brings both an incisive mind and genuine warmth and compassion to her work. Clients speak of events lead by Anne as “like breathing extra oxygen” and of her coaching as “transformational”.
