  • U16B Game Rescheduling Request

A request was made to re-schedule Game U16B[B]-026 by St. Albert. The game was originally scheduled as a Lacombe Home game on December 9, 2012 at the Clive Arena. Due to mechanical issue at the Clive Arena there was not ice available for the game. The game was re-scheduled for February 16, 2013 in Clive. The BGL Zone 5 Play Downs begin on February 16 for the U16B Division and St. Albert is scheduled for a morning game and upon a win will also be playing in the early evening. A request was made to have the game played after the Play Downs to ensure the league game is completed. The re-scheduling will not impact the standings for either team.

The decision rests with the Vice President and was approved for re-scheduling.

  • Play Down Schedule Clarification U19A

The start time for Play Down Game PD-7 is incorrect on the schedule. The time has been corrected to reflect game time as 8:00 pm.

  • Season Review

The associations were canvassed and the season appears to have been a success with teams being pooled appropriately. There were very few concerns brought forward to the League and minimal discipline administered throughout the season.

Leduc U12B Team representative Craig Finch brought up concerns relative to the re-pooling process and lack of communication. The major concern was due to lack of timely communication from the Board and as well no process to reverse the decision to pool a teams with “A” teams or within Division that differs from the initial pooling. Mr. Finch also read an e-mail sent to him by the coach of the team outlining disgust with BGL and the process.

The BGL process and communication matrix was presented outlining that each association has two representatives to BGL who are responsible for the communication and as well attendance at the re-pooling meetings to represent the teams. This was adhered to by Leduc and as well the re-pooling process and policy was followed for all teams including the Leduc U12B-1. The policy was also provided with respect to criteria upon re-pooling and the consistency with Ringette Alberta.

  • Playoff Scheduling and Review

The BGL Playoff Scheduler was unavailable for the meeting however there were concerns raised as some associations pulled back ice after it was originally submitted. This delayed the process and will be addressed at the AGM.

All associations must ensure that an independent Executive Member is present for the Play Down games are preset in the event of a grievance or issue arising at the game. In addition the associations providing the ice must ensure that shot clocks are available for all games where they are not installed on a permanent basis.

There was a reminder to all associations to report the scores directly to the BGL Statistician within 2 hours of the completion of the game in order to update the schedule accurately.

  • Round Table

There was an application submitted to RAB to move the SPK U14A Team up for the Provincial Championships. The U14A and U14A+ Provincial Championship Tournament will be held in Medicine Hat.

All Associations must adhere to the requirements for coaching certifications for the Provincials. There will be checks made to ensure all certifications are valid.

The BGL Executive provided an overview of revisions required to the Operating Manual. Ringette Alberta has updated policies and minor changes are required to reflect the changes within the Provincial organization and as well terminology for consistency.
