Assignment 6 – Outline
Topic: Community Service Benefits
Specific Speech Goal: I want to inform my audience about the benefits of participating
in community service activities.
Thesis: Community service is important because it helps increase self-esteem and offers networking and job opportunities.
Introduction
I. How many of you here are interested in feeling better about yourself while
increasing your likelihood of getting a job and helping your community?
II. Most students want to find a way to do all of these things. You might even be
one of them.
III. Participating in community service activities is important because it helps
increase self-esteem and offers networking and job opportunities.
Speech Body
I. The first benefit of community service is that it increases self-esteem.
A. Many students have low self-esteem.
1. Completing an activity provides a sense of accomplishment.
a. An example is the Applebee’s Event where students were recognized by the Township with a certificate (show
certificate).
II. The second benefit is that community service provides networking and job opportunities.
A. Volunteering can sometimes connect you with local businesses.
1. This allows you to show companies that you have skills.
2. You also can learn new skills jobs want employees to have.
Conclusion
I. Throughout the speech, we have analyzed how community service can help you feel
better about yourself and provide you with networking and job opportunities.
II. So now you understand how important it is to participate in these activities. If you
answered yes to my question earlier about if you would like to feel better about yourself
while increasing your likelihood of getting a job, you now know how to do it.
