Frequently Asked Questions

What is Rendezvous? Rendezvous is a special four-day, three-night ministry event focused on fathering, marriage and relationships. We desire this to be a “couples annual getaway,” a time of ministry and quality time together with your spouse. This year, Rendezvous will host the event at the Montage Palmetto Bluff.

What is the content of the program? Rendezvous will focus on the topic of marriage, while also allowing us to present in a personal way the ministry of the National Center for Fathering.

Why does a fathering ministry do a marriage themed event? We know from research that the two main causes of fatherlessness are 1) Divorce and 2) Out-of-Wedlock birth. Added to this is that the top two main areas of struggle with the men we meet with are 1) Their marriages and 2) Their teenagers. We feel Rendezvous with a marriage theme addresses a key area of the fatherless problem.

Is there a desired outcome for the event? We would hope to accomplish four goals as a result of this “getaway”: 1) A time of ministry to you as a couple; 2) A time of relaxation and rest; 3) An unhurried way to share with you how God is uniquely using the ministry of the National Center for Fathering; 4) An opportunity to prayerfully ask for your partnership and support. This “getaway” also serves as our marquee friend-raising and fund-raising event for 2016.

What does it cost? As an invited guest of the National Center for Fathering, NCF will provide complimentary accommodations and group meals for the duration of the event. Transportation to and from the resort, and free-time meals and activities are at your expense.

As attendees, are we expected to make a gift? NCF asks each couple to prayerfully consider giving to support the ministry through this event. As a note: the direct cost to NCF for each guest couple attending is estimated to be $3,500.

Can we extend our time at the resort? Yes! We highly encourage you to extend your stay at this fabulous resort. We have negotiated a group rate of $330 (includes taxes) per night—for up to three days before and/or after the event (based upon availability). Extra nights must be booked through us, and once booked will be guaranteed to your expense portfolio. Please contact Brian Blomberg for availability. Please confirm extra nights with us before air travel is purchased.

What if we confirm to attend and then need to cancel? We will make every effort to re-book your reservation to another couple. If you cancel with 45 days of the event and we are not able to re-book your reservation, we will ask you to cover the direct expense of your cancellation.

Seems like an expensive place to have a ministry event. Why here?

Since we have experience with similar events, we have been able to utilize proper planning, frugal expense containment, in-kind gifts and wise contract negotiations so that we can host this event in an upscale location like Palmetto Bluff for a cost that might otherwise secure a much lesser location. The Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina will be a spectacular setting for a special Rendezvous.

Who is on the speaking team? Please check out website for the latest information on our speaking lineup - fathers.com/rendezvous.

Is the entire “getaway” structured with programs and planned sessions? No. In addition to purposeful programming, plenty of free time has been scheduled so you can enjoy this wonderful resort, its amenities and surroundings. In fact, the entire day on Tuesday has been set aside for free time and relaxation.

Is golf available at this event? Yes, the River May Golf Course, a private members only course allows guests at the Montage exclusive non-member access to play this beautiful course. Tee times can be arranged once you arrive on-site.

I can’t come to this event. Are other events planned? Yes, right now our Father & Teen/Young Adult Expedition adventure event is currently taking reservations. See fathers.com/expedition for more details.

Where is the Montage Palmetto Bluff? The Montage Palmetto Bluff (formerly the Inn at Palmetto Bluff), is a 22,000 acre development nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina just 30 minutes from Hilton Head Island and Savannah, GA. The Montage is building a brand new addition, the Inn, which will be our home base for the event. The 150 room Inn will include 5-Star quality, well-appointed accommodations offering vibrant waterfront lagoon and tranquil coastal forest views.

How do we get to the event? Transportation to and from the Montage Palmetto Bluff is at your own expense. Preferred air travel can be booked into the SAVANNAH-HILTON HEAD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SAV). From the airport, the resort is 35 minute drive. Other airport destinations are available including the HILTON HEAD AIRPORT (HHH) – very limited flight schedule options and the CHARLESTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CHS) – a 2 hour drive to the resort. Further information on transfers to the resort will be provided once we get closer to the event. Unless you come in early, Sunday, November 6th is your arrival day and we ask you to plan your arrival onto the grounds of the Montage Resort no later than 5:00pm. Air departures can be made any time after 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 9th.

How do we confirm our spot? Registration is now open at fathers.com/rendezvous.
