FOURTH GRADETIMES

The newsletter with class!

September 12,2014

Welcome

Welcome to 4th grade! I have to say that we are off to a GREAT start! As a whole the children transitioned VERY well! They seem to find a way to amaze me each and every day! I can’t wait to share the 4th grade experience with you at Back to School Night

Assessments

The test and quiz dates furnished in each newsletter may change depending upon the needs of the students. A date will never move forward, but may be pushed back. If a change needs to be made, your child will have it recorded in his/her assignment book.

All assessments will be sent home on Fridays. There will be a section in the newsletter that lets you know what assessments were sent home to ensure that you are indeed receiving EVERYTHING! Once you review the contents of the envelope I ask that you sign the envelope and return it back on Monday. Your signature is confirmation that you have seen all assessments. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions about assessments that are sent home.

Science Quiz

There will be a science quiz next Friday. The quiz will cover sections 1-3 in your child’s science notebook. The best way for you to support your child is to have him/her explain the experiments that are illustrated in each section.

Math Quiz

There will be a math quiz on Thursday. The math quiz will cover everything in your child’s math notebook (polygons, line segments, rays, lines, and quadrilaterals.

Library

We have library on Day 2. We will be visiting the library for the first time on Monday, September 22nd!

Back to School Night

As you know Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 18th. We will be meeting in the gym at 7:30! I look forward to meeting everyone!

Ask Me About!

“Ask me about” is a part of the newsletter that features what we have been learning! Ask your child the following questions:

  • Does air take up space? How can you prove it?
  • What are parallel lines?
  • What is the difference between a line, line segment, and ray?
  • Describe an easy way to pre-write using scoops of ice cream?
  • What should you be doing as you read a novel?

Have a wonderful weekend!
