Introduction

Could a zombie apocalypse happen in real life? Are there any current, scientifically validated examples of parasites (viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc.) altering their host organisms behavior? Do terrifying real-life zombies already walk the earth???

Task

The zombie apocalypse is in full swing. Millions of people across the globe are being infected every day.Where could this infection have come from? Is there any hard scientific evidence that this may have happened before in other species?

The U.N. Zombie Task Force needs you to help figure out the answers to these questions. After all, the more information that we have about this phenomenon serves not only to increase our body of scientific knowledge and understanding of the disease but hopefully will lead to the solution of how to save humanity!!!

Process

1. In order to provide the U.N. Zombie Task Force with valid scientific information, you will need to do research on various organisms. The following is an overview of what to expect:

3. Using the provided websites, you will gather information featuring different organisms that exhibit zombie-like behavior. Don’t forget to take good notes!!! (Parts 2-3)

4.Once you have researched the information, you must use your critical thinking skills to make a judgment call as to whether or not there is enough evidence to support the idea of a zombie apocalypse.
