QUALIFICATIONS : INTERNAL - By promotion from the grade of Assistant Financial Operations Officers on the basis of experience and merits.

EXTERNAL

(i) A Cambridge School Certificate with credit in at least five subjects including English Language and Mathematics / Principles of accounts obtained on one certificate or a General Certificate of Education “Ordinary Level” with passes not below Grade C in at least five subjects including English Language and Mathematics/ Principle of Accounts obtained on one certificate.

(ii) A Cambridge Higher School Certificate with Mathematics / Accounts obtained on one certificate or a General Certificate of Education “Advanced Level” with passes in two subjects including Mathematics/ accounts obtained on one certificate.

(iii) A pass at Foundation Stage of the ACCA examinations.

OR

Equivalent Qualification to (i), (ii), (iii) acceptable to the Board.

(iv) At least one–year qualification experience. Knowledge of Computer Software packages is desirable.

NOTE: Candidates possessing a BSc Accounting Awarded by the University of Mauritius will be also considered provided they possess qualifications at (i), (ii), (iii) above.

DUTIES :

1. To be responsible for the preparation and timely submission of monthly Management Accounts and other routine financial reports required by the Management.

2. To be responsible for the preparation and monitoring of payroll for employees of the Corporation.

3. To be responsible for the computerised Cash Book, General Ledger, Bank Reconciliation and Examination Section

4. To maintain and monitor overseas purchases and liase with stores section for all aspects pertaining to procurement of spares and disposal of unused store scrap materials.

5. To liaise with Depot personnel and prepare necessary financial reports pertaining to all aspects of expenditure on all items at Depot department as when necessary.

6. To ensure that staff under his supervision work under strict departmental Regulations, Financial and Accounting procedures that may be devised from time to time.

7. To review, monitor the existing system of depots and other departments, Report on any new systems envisaged or on shortcomings detected and recommended remedial action as and when required.

8. To prepare reports / data for memoranda pertaining to Corporation’s finances to be submitted to Committees, Boards, Tribunals, Courts and other Forums.

9. To liaise with any financial institutions, banks and any other Government Parastatal Departments.

10. To ensure timely submission of Income Tax, Pension and any other Financial Returns due to be submitted by the Corporation.

11. To perform other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Financial Operations Officer in the roles ascribed according to posting.
