The Making of Television News

This is a one-of-a-kind, innovative and exciting class that partners with the local NBC affiliate, WTMJ-TV, in a completely unique way. After two weeks in the classroom, the rest of the semester will be held at WTMJ (720 E. Capitol Dr. in Milwaukee, a short drive from UWM). We’ll work in conjunction with WTMJ to study every aspect of a television newsroom, from the anchors and reporters to the producers, photographers, engineers, social media/promotional experts and much, much more. Students will be gaining real life experience in a professional environment and learning directly from those in the field. Each week we’ll hold a lesson in one area of the newsroom followed by hands-on practice. This is a rare, not-to-be-missed chance to see the inner workings of a TV station and to make connections with those in the field.
