The GRE Revised General Test
How to Sign Up: The GRE revised General Test will be offered as a computer-based test year round at most locations around the world. It will be offered as a paper-based test up to three times a year in areas where computer-based testing is not available.
You can register for both the computer-based and paper-based tests with a valid credit or debit card through your My GRE Account.

Deadlines: The GRE revised General Test begins on August 1, 2011.
Tests taken between August and November will receive the scores no earlier than
November 2011.
Tests taken after November 29, 2011 will receive scores 10-15 days after test
date.
If you need test scores before November 2011, take the current GRE before
August 2011.
Scores:
Verbal Reasoning Scores: Scores will be reported on a 130-170 score scale, in 1-
point increments (changed from 200-800 in 10 point increments).
Quantitative Reasoning Scores: Scores will be reported on a 130-170, in 1 point increments
(versus 200-800 in 10 point increments).
Analytical Writing Scores: Scores will report on a scale of 1-6 in half point increments.
Sections:
Verbal Reasoning:
Text Completion questions test your ability to interpret, evaluate and reason from what you've read. Text Completion questions test this ability by omitting crucial words from short passages, requiring you to fill them in by selecting words or phrases.
Sentence Equivalence questions test your ability to reach a conclusion about how a sentence should be completed while focusing on the meaning of the whole sentence.
There are more Reading Comprehension questions on the test, including new types of questions, such as selecting multiple correct answer choices instead of just one, or highlighting a sentence within a reading passage to answer the question.

Quantitative Resaoning:
The revised test requires basic math skills like arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data analysis; however, it will focus on questions involving data interpretation and real-life scenarios.
There are Multiple-choice questions which include some that have more than one correct answer, requiring you to select all of the correct answers from the choices provided.
Numeric Entry questions require you to enter your answer in a box instead of selecting an answer from a list.
The GRE Revised Gerneral Test includes an on-screen calculator.

Analytical Writing:
The Analytical Writing section requires focused responses based on the tasks presented.You will write two essays, one where you evaluate a logical argument, and the other where you express your views on a critical issue.For each essay task, you will be given one topic.

Important Information Concerning the Test:
The GRE revised Gernal Test includes the Multi-Stage Test (MST) design. Through this design, students are allowed to move forward and backwards, skip questions and edit responses (all within one section).
