The Bozeman Symphony Travels

Far Afield

THE FAR AFIELD PROGRAM, established in 1992, takes Bozeman Symphony chamber ensembles to rural communities to present free performances and share their musical perspectives. Far Afield enables the audience to see, hear and feel the music being created live instead of through the media of television or radio.

The bassoon section of the Bozeman Symphony has come together to create the exciting ensemble, Bozoon. Music from The Renaissance, might start the journey, but Bozoon also works toward a “Modern” Renaissance, by presenting concerts of new works that include original and jazz-influenced pieces. There are even performances from the standard bassoon ensemble repertoire (yes, there is one!). The delightful programs will continually surprise and delight audiences at school concerts for K-12, or at evening concerts for adults. Bassoons are fun. Bozoon is extraordinary.

Adding to the variety of sounds and textures are two musician friends who play a wide range of accompanying instruments: marimba, vibes, drums, saxophone, bassoon, and “assorted toys.” Founded in 2000, Flutes and Friends has been engaging the fresh ears of school children with its unique sounds and playfulness and also delighting the sophisticated ears of adult audiences with its artistry.
