THE ASSIGNMENT: CHEMICAL COMIC STRIP: BITSTRIPS
Purpose:
To create a chemical comic strip that illustrates the change of the properties ofelements when they combine to form compounds.
Task:
Working in pairs (or individually, if preferred), you will create a comic strip that illustrates a combination reaction of two different elements, which will be represented as characters in your comic. The comic strip should be informative, creative and entertaining.
STEP 1: Pick a compoundand a partner (if preferred)
Pick a compound from the compound list.

STEP 2: Complete the Research
1. Use at least2 sources for each element and your compound to complete your research.
Examples:
You may find some books in the school library. Ask the librarians if you need help.

2. Use the note-taking sheets provided to take notes.
NOTES must be neatly written by hand! Typed notes are NOT acceptable.
NOTES should be in point form(not in paragraph)
1 note-taking sheet for 1 reference book or website.
3. You MUST include the following information in your storyline:
ELEMENTS:
- Element name, chemical symbol and combining capacity.
- Physical properties
- Chemical properties
COMPOUND:
- Compound name, chemical formula
- Physical properties
- Chemical properties
STEP 3: Prepare a Comic Strip which include the following information:
MUST include all the information (refer to the list in STEP 2) in your comic strip in
a VERY CREATIVE WAY!
a)Design the superheroes that express the powers which relate to the unique physicaland chemical properties of elements before reacting together.
b)The mechanism that brings them together (include their combining capacities)
c)The new physical and chemical properties that result after the two heroes (elements) join their “forces” or “power”.
d)Use Bitstrips to generate your comic.

STEP 4: Prepare Works Cited
You must type a list of the references (resources) in a separate sheet in proper format.
You may get a copy of the examples of works cited format in the school library.
