Otherwise all is the same
4.3 / Biomedical and 4th Year Rep: Saloni
Have created all the facebook groups for 4th year BSc's and have emailed the cohort introducing myself + most students seem to have joined the groups.
I've also been emailing BMS students about resits info and what to do if they have any problems.
Currently in the initial stages of organising careers events for applying to MSc's and general careers sessions in late Oct / Nov.
I tried to download the ublend app but I think it's not available for Android? Seems really cool though!
4.4 / Summer Ball Chair: Nina
Have received the invoice for Popcorn and candyfloss and the contract for SNOW BALL will be forwarding them to rhys in due course. Have begun clearing out the inbox folder for the Summer ball account, which is taking FOREVER. Have found a balloon lady for decorations for meet & greet, will get them in ICSM colours. Have sent out commitee applications and now have my committee - WOOP! Will plan the first meeting soon, everyones got such amazing ideas! Visiting the most suitable Summer ball venue on friday to check it out. Will be going with Sammy to check out the venue for the Halloween Masquerade and negotiate price and drinks deals. I think that’s all for now.
4.5 / Social Secretary: Thomas Willis
My stuff is still on track, for Mums and Dads matching we have decided to use ICU’s new matching software to begin with and give us a list of names, and then we will go over them to check everything is working well. Stitch-up planning is nearly done courtesy of Laurence, and Belushis is good to go for Mums and Dads night. By the time of the meeting I will have the Drs and Nurses Pub Map done with maps for freshers to get back to halls.
Currently trying to find a place for the Boat Party After-party, will discuss options at the meeting.
4.6 / RAG Chair: Sammy Sundar
Nothing super exciting. T-shirt design is well on its way to being completed - have spoken to two companies who will give us quotes and we can go forward with that. Have a meeting for possible venue for Halloween Ball this weekend with Nina so hopefully should get some good news out of that. Other than that, have had an excellent time in Munich with Emma.
4.7 / Entertainments Chair: Mala Mawkin
Everything is coming together, very excited. Everyone is being such a legend on the facebook group and I am super grateful for everyones help and support to entz stuff. The normal stuff is happening, but just wanted to mention on here we are in talks with having a potential relationship with urban monkey which could be a game changer and a life saver for me and the team. Apart from that I think we are all up to speed with freshers :)
4.8 / Alumni and Careers Officer: James Bloomer
No change from last update apart from need to chase Steve about alumni badges for last year.
4.9 / Sponsorship Officer: Qasim Ali
Not much to update on, can’t really remember what I said last time. Managed to get £475 of CRC for a stall at inspirational afternoon and some facebook posts, so that was good. Brings sponsorship to a secured £2350 :) FInalising a deal with MPS (about £400) and with PasTest (about £600). Waiting to hear back from Wesleyan, BMA (would be good if anyone could give me a better contact?) and Pfizer. K-Med, Cardinal Clinic, SimpliHealth are also in more preliminary talks. If anyone has any ideas who else I could ask, please let me know, I’m happy to chase up any lead, just running a little low on new avenues at the moment. Also I’ve made a really cool spreadsheet with conditional formatting and shit, just thought I’d let everyone know :)
4.10 / Sites and Services Officer: Rustam Karanjia
SU office finally hoovered. Final clearup/moving of items to happen sometime soon when not being slaughtered by O and G.
Common room clear up/distribution of stuff left we should get done soon.
Spoken to Carl about the bar and his vision for it - ESSENTIAL we discuss this at some point.
Many thanks for shop photos - hoping to upload them today. Many thanks to Rhys as well for ordering stock.
BMS hoodies are a great idea - Dina can you help with the order to Moonshine?
4.11 / Communications Officer: Kiran Patel
Haven’t had time to meet Med about the app. Interested to see how ublend goes as we were in contact, but then they never got back to me. Managed to not break the website this week, which was a massive surprise. Other than that all a bit Samey really.
4.12 / Secretary: Emma Larsson
Not many updates since last time. I have mostly been replying to some emails, I created a template for meeting minutes, and will be sending out the preliminary Sport’s Night stewarding rota this week.
4.13 / President: Maredudd Harris
Have met with ACC and ICU regarding the sports strategy. ACC are on the same page as us, so we need to focus on offering the case to college and SI on what we want from Sports. Started 1:1 with Carl to keep on top of any issues with the bar and the refurb - need to get more responses from people - post on fb? Have met about changes to the Biomed course. Generally need to try and better include the BioMeds into what we do. The drive for the Gap Year scheme worked well and the faculty are very grateful - Mala is doing a superb job with the Passport so it looks like we won’t have dented numbers too much if at all. Met the equality and diversity unit at Imperial, would be great to get Laurence and anyone else who wants it some formal training for welfare. The situation surrounding 5th and 6th funding has not really changed. There is no money coming from Imperial to support the students and so we are looking for small incremental changes that may help - any suggestions would be welcome. Job page? Finance page on website? Now the books are here we can pack packpack! Alumni account has finally made some progress and a new signatory has been allowed.
4.14 / Deputy President: Dina Saleh
4.15 / Treasurer: Rhys
●Ublend app and its development - see google doc
●Set up RAG committee for e-activities
●SAF common room clear out and re-development in progress, will share the plans at the meeting
●SU stash!! keeping this a bit under wraps at the minute so you guys get a nice surprise of some free goodies, but can everyone send me jacket and trousers size (XS,S,M,L,XL)
●Budgeting meetings with ICU
●General e-activities stuff
4.16 / Clubs and Societies Officer: Alex Compton
Currently working to gather club captain’s etc responses to Ublend- so far it’s all been really positive so I’m keen to go with this. It will also rule out the need for a separate calendar. Will update Rhys’ document with any pros/cons brought up.
Collated sports club responses towards Varsity and Sports Strategy Review. Some very good ideas and positive attitudes so hopefully we can move forward with ACC on side to help our clubs remain financially stable and reduce expenditure where possible. This year Varsity will be focussed around Heston so we want to ensure that all clubs will be part of the day as some felt rather left out last year.
Got a date for Arts Dinner (woooh). Already contacted Millennium Hotel and am meeting them 1st September to discuss. Hopefully its gonna be siiick. They’ve even offered unlimited drinks for the night for a reasonable (ish) price. Fingers crossed this becomes reality!! I’d really like SU present so please save the date- Thursday 12th November!
Sports Day catering and travel is sorted. Sports Leaders email will be going out next week to 2nd years. Anyone down for stewarding sports day have a car?
Met with Carl and Rustam regarding sports nights. There will be no table reservations/allocations this year for first sports night. Carl is currently having one-to-one meetings with all sports club captains so sports nights should be smoother.
Finalising Freshers Raffle. All donations will be confirmed by next week. Seeing as we don’t need to push the passports quite so much anymore, I was thinking that anyone buying a ticket to the Secret House Party could also be entered in. Thoughts?
Opera are on track for Big Chill so leaving them to it. I know everyone has the night off stewarding but if you could come down and support any freshers performing this would be really good. It’s set to be a chilled night but is always a good one!
Liaising with Jazz Band for Freshers Welcome Dinner. A small group will play during the reception and then for the mingle afterwards. Mala, any chance we could give them afterparty tickets?
Working on the mailing lists. Have emailed DPFS so hopefully it will all be sorted by next week. I can currently email out to captains/presidents so please let me know if you need anything sent out urgently.
Regarding mail shift to Reynolds. Current proposition: all SK post will now be directed to SAC where ICSM have a pigeon hole (assuming it remains after the refurb). Med will bring across any post as necessary to CX unless a club has specifically requested that their post stays in SAC. ICE?
Doodle for first clubs and socs meeting has gone out. Every club will be expected to send a representative. I would like Rustam, Med, Rhys and myself to be there if possible (will send you guys the doodle too). We will also be pushing Imperial Plus so tell your friends how great it is!!
Clubs and Socs Roomclearout will be 11th to 13th September. All clubs with items in there will need to come and sort through their stuff. Space will then be reallocated out to make better use of the room. If anyone feels like helping/keeping me company that would be fab!
Need to update the C+S Alumni grant criteria. ACTION POINT James and Chippyto meet and bash this out before first Alumni meeting in September (so it can be voted through then)
Off to a festival Thursday 27th to Tuesday 1st so will be out of contact. If it’s really urgent, text me.
I’ve been doing lots of little bits and pieces here and there and if anyone does find themselves a bit snowed under or needs someone to brainstorm with etc, I’m free almost every day until 14th September and am happy to help!
Please all join me for pub quiz after the meeting!
4.17 / Welfare Officer: Laurence Pallant
4.18 / Bar manager
Student meetings by 26th of October. Three before then in a straight run. Marketing will develop posters. Need to go more medic themed.
Questioned what the student bar manager's role should be in the refurbishment.
4.19 / UBlend
Trending based on preferences, medicine as a category option and management group option to precede the name of the club. Return for sponsorship if we advertise it well and get some kind of feedback on the app for them.
