Personal Letter: Attach a personal letter to the TXAPA Board of Directors detailing your career goals, a statement on why you think you should be awarded a TXAPA Scholarship, and other information that you feel may be of interest in helping you receive one of the scholarships.

References:Attach 3 references with letters from persons other than the one listed as recommending you. One reference must be a Registered Professional Civil Engineer in Texas.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

If you have any questions please contact Stephanie Buckberry at TXAPA, 512-312-2099. Once recipientdeterminations have been made you will be notified via telephone and/or emailand a letter will be mailed to the current mailing address listed on this application.

The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association will award scholarships to Civil Engineering, Construction Science, or Technology students qualifying under the Association program. Recommendations for qualified recipients are solicited from industry and university representatives. The Board of Directors will provide scholarship applications to each student recommended, and will carefully review each application received prior to awarding the scholarships.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

1. NAME: The Texas Asphalt Pavement Scholarship.

2. NUMBER: A maximum of 8 scholarships will be awarded annually.

3. AMOUNT: A total of approximately $1,500.00 shall be awarded to each recipient.

4. TYPE: Annual.

5. EFFECTIVE: September of 2011 - July 2012 academic year.

6. RECIPIENT: Full-time student regularly enrolled, at sophomore level or above, pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Science/ Technology.

7. SELECTION OF RECIPIENT: Application by student to be made directly to the Texas Asphalt Pavement Association. Final approval of selection to be made by the Board of Directors of the Texas Asphalt Pavement Association after receipt of personal and scholastic data of all applicants and based on the recommendations of industry representatives.

8. SELECTION CRITERIA:

A.Student must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of Texas.

B.Student must have a creditable academic record, and demonstrated a strong interest in the hot mix asphalt field.

*C.Preference will be given to those students who have demonstrated an interest in the hot mix asphalt field through their choice of summer, or part-time employment.

D.The student must re-apply for the scholarship each year. Upon final approval of the recipient by the Association Board of Directors, TXAPA will notify the student(s) selected and the recommending industry or university representative.
