USER PROFILE:

  • Two people: The profile will be defined by you. The taste, likes, professions, preferences, schedules/programs etc. that will act as a base for your design are all up to you.
  • You will pick one of these four categories (8 students for each group:first come, first serve!):

-a young couple

-parent and child

-roommates

-elderly couple

Definition of “loft”:

-Sleeping

-Kitchen

-Kids’ areas

-Workstations

-Creative space

-Bathroom

-Storage

SOME EXAMPLES OF LOFT-LIKE SPACES:

FIRST HOMEWORK:

Your first exercise is to watch one of these movies below, fully analyze the interior and:

* draw the sketchy plan and section including the main furniture pieces of the interior, and

* prepare a moodboard reflecting the atmosphere of the movie (include text and visuals). Please try to understand the essence of the ambiance of the space and feed from it.

The movies are (5-6 students for each movie):

- Green Card

- A Perfect Murder

- Unfaithful

- Big Lebowski

- Twilight series: Cullen House

- American Psycho (new)

- King’s Speech

- Ghost Writer

* Friday, 28th of February: Mood board submission. Bring all of the visual materials that you have collected (at least 10 screenshots, user profile)

* Tuesday, 4th of February:Volumetric Analysis of the interior. It will be a collage of sketchy plan(s), sections and the finalized moodboard (format: vertical A2 poster). Prepare to present your work in class.

* EXPLANATIONS:

You may find the drawings and the boundaries of the study area at the website. The aim is to create a space that is appealing on both the interior and the exterior, therefore this exterior-interior relationship should also be studied. Below are the requirements of the space.
