Position Description

The Framingham State University Food and Nutrition Program seeks applications for a tenure track position starting fall 2016. The position involves undergraduate teaching and curriculum development in areas related to wellness, fitness, and nutrition. Specific areas of teaching within a Nutrition and Wellnessprogram include:

Nutrition

Personal Health

Community Health

Exercise Science/ Kinesiology/Fitness

Wellness

Additional responsibilities include advising students, curriculum development, and service to the University as well as continuing scholarship. Teaching opportunities in the Graduate School are available. Framingham State University is dedicated to and supports effective teaching.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Food and Nutrition,, or closely related field by September 1, 2016, preferred

Doctoral degree Exercise Science, Food and Nutrition, or closely related field by September 1, 2017, required

Broad background in nutritionand wellness with expertise to teach in a range of areas at all levels of the curriculum required

Evidence of effective teaching at the University level,preferred

Must be able to work starting September 2016

Salary and Benefits

Salary commensurate with education and experience according to Massachusetts State University Professional Association (Union) Contract. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, and retirement.

The Food and Nutrition Program

The Food and Nutrition Program offers a Bachelor of Science Degree, enrolling over 300 undergraduates as well as Masters Degrees in Human Nutrition and Nutrition Education with 150 graduate students. The Program employs seven full-time faculty members all of whom are Registered Dietitians. The major includes both an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics and a Didactic Program in Dietetics as well as a concentration in Nutrition and Wellness. Class size is 15-35 students. Opportunities are available to teach additional courses in the MS and MEd graduate programs as well as setting a research agenda. The John Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition is a vibrant organization at the University and collaboration with faculty members is anticipated to continue.
